Football kickers, Traverse City area, NHRA drag racing
Hi all
Married, 2 children, 6 grandchildren, live in Traverse City, MI, work at Cherry Capital Cab and Grand Traverse Limousine.
I have three small collections:
1. I built sets of the NHRA cards in 1991-2-3-4-5. I actually needed (for 20 years) only 8 cards to complete two sets and I was amazed to find all 8 on sportlots.com recently for their minimum price. All the extras I own are listed on my "for trade" inventory here on sportscardforum.
2. I also have a small collection of people who have a connection to the Traverse City, MI area. I typically only have one card per year per team of these players in my collection:
Baseball:
Roger Mason (from nearby Bellaire and current resident of the Traverse City area) Birmingham Barons, Evansville Triplets, Phoenix Giants, Phoenix Firebirds, Tucson Toros, Arecibo Lobos, Buffalo Bisons, AAA All Star, Pittsburg Pirates, San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets
Weirdly enough, I don't have any cards of our local minor league team (the Beach Bums) for whom Roger Mason has been a pitching coach.
Basketball:
Tom Kozelko (from and current resident of Traverse City) Washington Bullets
Dan Majerle (from Traverse City) (USA Basketball, Phoenix Suns, NBA All Star, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat)
Football:
Mark Brammer (from and current resident of Traverse City) Michigan State Spartans, Buffalo Bills
Gary Hogeboom (resided in Traverse City for some time post career) Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Phoenix Cardinals
Tony Mandarich (resided in Traverse City in the years between the Packers and the Colts) Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts
Hockey:
Dallas Drake (current resident of Traverse City) Northern Michigan University Wildcats, Detroit Red Wings, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues
Zach Redmond (grew up in Traverse City) Winnipeg Jets, Colorado Avalanche
Gordie Howe (part time resident over the years and benefactor to the local hockey community) Detroit Red Wings, Houston Aeros, New England Whalers
3. My largest collection is professional football placekickers from the 1956 cards forward. I only collect one card per player per year. I try to stay with the dominant card brand for each year.
Thanks for your interest.
Doug

Love the traverse city area. My dad side grew up in Benzie and Beulah. Sister and brother went to high school up there and worked various jobs at the cherry hut and I bekieve Tammarack fish hatchery. A great and lovely place where I had some memorable moments going on close to 30 years.
Interesting place kicker collection. Hope you enjoy your time on SCF.
