shipping charges on ebay???
hi all,
just a quick question!! was looking at some auctions to bid on ebay and saw some ridiculous prices (7.00 to canada reg. mail) i read in beckett that they were going to do something about sellers fleecing the buyers????? any input is welcome!!!

i sent an email to a seller the other day asking about why his shipping price is so high, and told him i would buy if he lowered it and i itemised for him how much it should be and he told me f_ck off and told me i was "blacklisted" now thats a crook for ya :(

Well theory goes that you should know how much you are going to pay for shipping befor you buy the item. His high prices will just drive away buyers hurting himself more than anyone else. But he/she is free to charge whatever he/she wishes. Just remember to be a smart buyer.

I had the other option happen to me. My shipping on cards tends to be around $2.99 (covers all of my materials + postage + Ebay/Paypal fees).
Had a guy mail me telling me my shipping was too high, he'd buy if I lowered shipping to 50 cents. I told him that the envelope itself cost nearly that, and that if he didn't like it, not to bid. He went off on me on my attitude.
But yes, there are some seriously high shipping rates involved on Ebay.

New regulations at/with Canada Post......
I know buying on Ebay is frustrating with the high shipping charges and not to defend anyone who is charging rediculous rates but, Canada Post has changed there shipping policies to the States.
I went in the other week to send a package from a trade I made here on the forum and I had 10 cards in a hard plastic case and in a bubble envelope. Usually, I would expect to pay maybe $2-$3 to ship but as of (I believe this is the date they gave me) July 15th bubble envelopes are now consider small packages and thus shipping is higher. I believe I ended up paying between $5-$6 to send the package.
I hope this helps and like one of the other threads stated if you think shipping is high don't buy.....

thanks for the input guys!!!! i buy and sell on ebay too. i can,t charge 6.00 shipping for 1 card in canada, or the states for that matter!! but correct me if i,m wrong but i think i read in 1 of the beckett,s that they were supposed to do something about overcharging for shipping. i can understand that if you sell say 5 cards, the shipping would ofcourse be higher but 5 or 6 bucks for a card is crazy. no one is there to lose money but it,s still a hobby .

i dont ship outside the states, but if i did, that would be about what i would charge....i dont know what it costs, but im definately not gonna take a loss on it!! $3 barely covers the cost of shipping AND handling in the US for a single card (.65 postage, .40 bubble mailer, .25 listing fees, .25 supplies, .40 paypal fees, % of sale that goes to ebay, etc)....im not defending anyone, but when i am looking to buy something on the bay, i have a TOTAL price in mind....if im willing to spend $10, then i will pay 7 for an item with $3 ship or $5 for an item with $5 ship....ill even pay .99 for an item with $9 ship....i know that some people do this INTENTIONALLY which is actually smart (yes, now hear me out)....when ebay takes their % of the sale price, it is the price w/o shipping!! so if you can sell the same item for $1 with $4 shipping or $4 with $1 shipping, why not do the first??
