A lot of vintage cards dealers were from Montreal at the Toronto Expo on last week-end, and in my opinion the main vintage dealer missing here in Montreal is BMW that is paying the most for vintage stuff. "Buying" is really what he does, comparatively to other dealers that don't really give big bucks for quality cards. He was present at most Montreal card shows maybe 15 years ago.
But honestly I don't miss the dealers present at the Toronto Expo cutting sheets of O-Pee-Chee cards from the 1970s-1980s, then made the cards graded by KSA or BGS, and then for sale at the Toronto Expo to collectors !!! OPC sheets cut cards is what turned me off a bit about collecting vintage stuff few years ago, and grading companies don't really do something to stop that because they only care about grading the maximum of cards (so making the much money as possible).Last edited by roy.the.greatest; 04-16-2016 at 09:54 AM.

When I think of vintage I am talking about pre 1970 when I started collecting and I stand by my original answer "Nothing matches the Toronto Expo" for cards that are more than 50 years old. Cheers. The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

Talking about cards that are more than 50 years old, modern/vintage cards, yesterday looking some of my modern cards still in my PC I realized that the first Patrick Roy UD Premier NHL Shields Auto made in the hobby made in 2003-04 is having 13 years-old!!!... hey 13 years-old it is the same age than my older kid and older than some new collectors of these days! Sounds weird for a "modern card" to have more than a decade of age! And not talking about cards from the 1990s already having 25 years-old! For this kind of cards, it is obvious that interest from new collectors collecting Eichel and McDavid don't really have interest in the pre-2010 cards and this is why people looking to sell rapidly on eBay or to trade them on forums don't easily find collectors with the same interest, simply a question of interest from the new wave of young collectors mainly interested in Crosby/Ovechkin/Price and the new NHLers as McDavid. Same pattern as my wave of collectors (35-40 years old) interested in goalies like Patrick Roy and players like Wayne Gretzky, but no interest in Ken Dryden or others from the 1970s. Similar for stuf for pre-1970s. I think 50% of the hobby mass still is for the fresh cards (made less than 3 years ago), then 25% for 1980-2010 cards, and the last 25% for pre-1980s.

As one of those Dealers at the Toronto Expo with a ton of vintage, graded and non-greaded, i take slight exception to this. lol i can assure you we do not cut up vintage sheets of cards.. they are worth waaaaaaaaay too much lol.
