Former NBA player Sean Rooks had heart disease and ended up dying from a heart attack according to the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office.

Rooks, 46, who was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers, passed away only hours after being interviewed for a job on the coaching staff of the New York Knicks.

A spokesperson form the coroner's office told TMZ that Rooks' body had been examined that he 'believes Rooks died of heart disease.'

The ex-NBA star had returned to Philly after meeting with the Knicks' new head coach, Jeff Hornacek, president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills.

He met the Knicks team in Tarrytown, New York - and was met with an 'enthusiastic' response.

He then took the train back to Philadelphia, where he later died, after suffering a heart attack at a restaurant in the city.
