    New Postal Rates

    http://www.usps.com/prices/

    Add on:

    2oz. Bubble or their terminology "Large Envelope" = .80 1st oz + .17 additional oz= Total $0.97

    * 3/4" rule WILL apply for DC(Delivery Confirmation) and will be $0.75

Just an FYI: I had our local postmaster walk me through each classification

    2oz PWE/Envelope their "Letter"= .41 1st Oz + .17 each Oz = $0.58 Note below (*up to 3.5 Oz.*)

*: After 3.5 Oz the letters go into the Large envelope Rates.

    A 2Oz Box or other items their "Package" = $1.13 1st Oz and .17 additional for a total $1.30

Priority Mail is now $4.60 up to a Lb. and .65¢ for delivery Confirmation for a total of $5.25.

The Only item that I couldn't get verified with a mock/test run was "International Shipping:

Airmail-Post= Their new term is first-Class Mail International which is .69+ and varied WAY too much with destination.

Global/Airmail & Economy parcel post is now Priority mail International and is $16.00 for their cheapest rate!!!

One more thing Insurance OVER $500.00 has to be purchased at the Post Office!! If it is purchased via any other means(Online, Kiosk, etc) you only have up to $500.00 worth of protection!

    Just another FYI:

    1 Single Screw Plastic. $1.83
    100 Soft Sleeve Plastics $1.30
    10 Tops Loaders $1.67
    5x7 4 Screw Plastic $1.98

All of these do not even include the weight of the envelope. That is even more if you use a bubble mailer.

And if I'm right, padded envelopes are now considered packages, not flat envelopes, right?

    Shinino-
    Yeah that is right.

    1oz is $1.13

    1.20oz cost me $1.30

Plus DC is now .75 cents for these types.

First class mail is cheaper now. Previously it was 63 cents for mail up to 2 oz. Now it is 58 cents.

So the question is, what do we ship our cards / games / dvds et al in now to avoid the higher rate?

I think regular envelopes is the only option but it is not one I am very fond of.
I wonder if picture mailers count as parcels now? If you could put some bubble wrap around the card it should protect it as well as a bubble mailer. Same thing just home made.

I will see the next time I am at the PO.

The PO has stated that if the contents of the envelope is thicker the 1/4 of an inch, it is now considered a parcel (package). That includes all fillers and bubble mailer are automatically considered a parcel, regardless of size.

What's also ridiculous is that is you package weighs more than 2 pounds, it's cheaper to send via Flat Rate. Used to be 4 pounds or more.

So now I have to adjust my box prices and that bites...
