So has anybody actually seen any of these? I've seen Dark Knight and Kung Fu Panda...I want to see a few of them and I'm dying to see Tropic Thunder. I'm astounded Downey got an Oscar nomination from a movie like that. Ledger was good, not sure his performance was Oscar-worthy though...of course, he wouldn't even be on the list if he hadn't died. That's about all I know though...anybody else have any thoughts?

Heath Ledger nominated; other oscar nominations

The Dark Knight shut out. The #2 grossing picture of all-time doesn't get a nomination. The Academy is a JOKE.

Easily the best movie this year, but then again, comic books movie adapts aren't highly regarded by the panel.

Exactly. I thought it was great, but it's a comic book. I can't blame them too much. Plus, Benjamin Button kicked ***.

The Dark Knight is probably the best movie I have ever seen... That is BS that it wasn't nominated!!!

Merged with already open Oscar Nominations thread...

The Dark Knight was really good...but it's not Oscar-worthy and it's not the 2nd best movie all-time (as voted on IMDB.com). I really don't understand why people are saying it's the best ever or close to it...

i don't understand why in the last decade, the movies voted for best picture have to be ones that no one has seen. It seems as though there is never more than 1 or 2 at the most that were major releases. I'm not saying that less viewed movies can't get nominated or that box office numbers decide things but come on. 10 years ago and before nearly every movie was one people has seen. This just futhers the idea that it is a bunch of rich elitists giving awards to themselves.

Because at a time when movies haven't been as strong as they used to be, it was a gem. It was non stop action, and very well done. I won't consider it one of the greatest movies ever, but in the last 10 years or so, its one of the better movies
