All,
I just got an email from Houng, here are the points:
Goal = 1 pt
Assist = 1 pt
Goalie Win = 2 pts
Shutout = 1 pt
Also you are correct in thinking that no games before the deadline count as this is when the game officially starts for us.

A slight correction in the initial post should say 6 defensemen, not 5. The pool will not submit your picks otherwise anyway...

No, you need to sign up to the officepool site as described in the initial post and then join the private league created by us on there. All the info you need is in the original post.
