Dilemma re: is it wrong to send...
so an athlete is rehabbing from a pretty serious injury (potentially career ending) at a facility close by my home. would it be wrong to send a photo to the rehab facility addressed to him? maybe "wrong" is not the word I'm looking for... would it be in poor taste to send?
any thoughts?

Why don't you "dress it up" by enclosing a Get Well card & an encouraging note? I think it would be ok then.
My $0.02.

I don't think it is wrong at all, however they may not pass on his mail! I actually would not remind him about the injury and encourage him disctretely like "I hope you help take your team to the championship next year" or " I bet you can hit 50 homeruns next year" or whatnot

As sick as this sounds I think it would depend upon the type of injury.

charlie davies from the US soccer team. some might not think he is a star but I love soccer and the US guys are hard to get b/c most of the good ones play overseas. he plays in france
he was in a bad car wreck in october and almost died. now he is rehabing and says he will be back in time for the world cup in June
