Knicks deny Magic Johnson tickets to game
The Knicks recently denied Magic Johnson's request for complimentary tickets to a game.
The New York Daily News writes that the request was denied in part because of Johnson's criticisms of former Knicks head coach Isiah Thomas.
Thomas remains close to Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan.
The Knicks wouldn't comment on or deny what Johnson was told when he wasn't provided a ticket to New York's Dec. 7 game against Portland.

This seems a little wrong...could be because of the book that Magic wrote (article goes on about it), but that still seems wrong. Wonder if there's more to the story than we'll know...

Seems wrong? He never played for the Knicks. Not sure why the Knicks would owe Magic free tickets...

Dear Magic Johnson, you have enough money to buy your own tickets. Thanks

Unless he is requesting these free tickets for orphans and widows, I see no reason why the Knicks should give him free tickets. Good job Knicks!Hidden Content

If that were the case, why couldn't he just buy tickets for the orphans and widows? He has plenty of money.

I don't know, haha I'm just throwing out a scenario where asking for free tickets might have been appropriate. But you do have a point though, even if it was for orphans and widows, Magic could have just bought the tickets for them.
I think it would be interesting to find out what was Magic's thinking and motivate behind this whole thing. Is he running out of money due to gambling debts? Are his HIV treatments driving him to bankruptcy? Who knows?

Sounds strange, I mean Magic is an icon but obviously I believe it looks like he wanted special seats and not common seats hence the request.

The bigger question is why in the world would he want tickets to a knicks game? and Magic wasn't too far off asking for complimentary tickets, the knicks are so bad that they should basically be handing out free tickets to whoever would go to a Knicks game and fill up their empty seats (no offense to Knicks fans, but the Knicks are horrible).
