Round 1: New York Rangers vs Pittsburgh Penguins Discussion Thread
The reigning President's Trophy winners, the New York Rangers square off against their division rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Though the Penguins stumbled down the stretch and have battled some serious injury issues, they still remain a threat as long as they have Crosby & Malkin in their lineup.
Here's the NHL.com preview: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=762839
Rangers won the season series 3-1.
I find it a bit of dark humour on NHL.com's part mentioning Kreider as a "series changer."

Also not a huge fan of this matchup. Hope we can put the Pens away quickly and move on to the next round. Go Rangers!

I would have thought that you guys would have loved this matchup instead of playing Boston or Ottawa. Pens cant score goals, Lovejoy is a pylon, Malkin doesn't look 100%, Get the Golf Clubs Ready Boys, Rangers in 5

Rangers are the NHL's top team and made the Stanley Cup Final last year, deep, deep team! Possibly the best group of 6 D-men in the league, oh and by the way, Henrik Lundqvist is back in net. Sorry Sid and Geno but you'll be hitting the links after 5 games. Rangers in 5.

Penguins are getting healthier and should be good for the series.

I would be very surprised if the Rangers need more than 5 games to win this. A sweep is pretty likely IMO.

Who is getting healthier that's really going to help them? Ehroff LOL. If they cant put the puck in the back of the net then it don't matter. They aren't getting any offensive guys healthy as they are already healthy. Oh Yeah King Henrik is in net too. They played like 1 good game in the past 20. They looked like crap in a must win game against BUFFALO!
Im as big as a Pens fan as you'll find but this team doesn't have it. If they make it past 4 games I would honestly be shocked.

Rangers in 6. I think the Pens are playing just well enough and have just enough talent to win 2 in there someplace but never really challenge to win the series.
