ok,

its round two of this whole blogging thing, and the last blog got 29 views. I was surprised, and I'm sure most of you didnt really care to read it, but like I said, its for the collectors that just might be interested.

This wave of new baseball cards that Topps keeps coming out with has put me on the fence for many reasons.

OLD: Who wouldn't want an original 1951 Bowman Willie Mays!? I know I would...if I had started saving 20 years ago. But it's not so much the player for me as much as the year and the history behind it all. Yeah, Mays was an up and coming rookie in 1951, but it was a card manufacturers 4th year in business that lasted from 1948 to 1955. Its the fact that the card from that era that you have in your possession has a history and story all its own. Whatever card from whatever year that you might have...take a look at it and just imagine where it's been, and what it took to get into your collection. Maybe you'll have a little better appreciation for those certain cards.

NEW: Who wouldn't want a card fresh from a pack with Tim Lincecums signature on it!? I know I would!!! TWICE! The cards these days are somewhat comparable to vintage, minus the story and history. They still put the good ol' Hall Of Famers on the cards, now, with a piece of their jersey, bat, or even autograph...if your that lucky.

To be honest. I enjoy both. Vintage doesn't lose its value, but I'm gonna hang on to my 2010 Allen and Ginter Buster Posey Relic Jersey and see what happens...along with the 58' Mantle, as any collector would.
