10-11 The Cup & Dominion

Rate this Entry
I had a few minutes so I thought I'd offer up some observations on this year's Cup and the new Panini Dominion products. First, you already know that I feel we got scammed pretty good on The Cup with the so-called 'limited' product. Strangely I just received an email from a supplier saying they had stock on Cup even though my 12 tin preorder never got filled

Anyway, it seems that Cup cards with the exception of the big names or some 1 of 1's aren't selling very well. When you can pick up a patch auto rookie numbered out of 249 for five bucks something is terribly wrong. When you take the cost of a tin, and I hear some are paying up to five hundred including taxes in Canada for this product, and you can't get more then five bucks for a rookie card signed with a jersey patch it is making a lot of people think twice about buying tins. When you think about it, you can probably pick up most of the cards you could probably want for less then what a tin costs so why buy tins ? Yes as I said some of the nice 1 of 1's are getting some decent prices but a recent sale for a double sided 1 of 1 NHL Shield Auto went for $110 !! CRAZY !!

So far in the limited time that Dominion has been out I've picked up several rookies, jerseys, autos and parallels, some numbered 99 or less for under TEN bucks !! Not very impressive at all. Of course the first couple of comments I received were that Panini parallelled the set to death just like every other issue. Who cares about blue, red, gold or silver of the same damn card

Well that is my take on Cup and Dominion for now. I will keep you updated on any purchases or transactions just to see what can be bought for very little money.
