Happy Thanksgiving Random Thoughts

Happy Thanksgiving everyone !!

While I have a few hours off the ice I figured I'd just blab a little about a couple of random things.

The comments I have been hearing regarding the staggeringly low book/resale prices on this year's Cup and Dominion are overwhelming. Several clients have wondered aloud as to whether or not buying these products are really worth it.

My response to them is simple, what are you hoping to get or do with your product ? If you collect certain players and are not looking to hit a home run with a case break or limited insert/jerseypatch/auto don't buy boxes. They simply don't give you decent ROI for the risk you take. In fact, the chances of you getting one of those 'marketable demand' cards is fairly slim. You are far better off to just buy/trade for the card or player of interest that you want on one of several websites. Sure if you are looking for a 1 of 1 Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin, P.K. Subban or such you are going to pay a premium but if you are looking for a Rick Nash, Jarome Iginla, Drew Doughty or such player you will most likely pick it up for significanly less then the $350-$450 price tag for one of these boxes/tins. Very few cards are selling for more then the box/tin price and in fact several 1 of 1's and under 10's have sold for under $150 making them a bargain compared to the box/tin issue price.

I've never been big on these high end boxes/tins from any card manufacturer. They simply don't provide enough enjoyment value for me. Sure some of the card designs and colours are great but for what type of money ? During an off season, injury or demotion to the miinors you can pick up 'fire sale' deals. Even big names can be victims of the card economy.

My advice on these things is simple, figure out the what you want and why you want it before shopping and you'll save yourself a lot of pain and suffering. This is a service I readily believe in and I ask all of my new customers these questions before doing any business with them. It is just plain and simple good business.

Enjoy the turkey !!
