Discussion Topic: 1000 NHL Games Played, which player is the most shocking

So, this weekend, Jason Pominville played his 1,000th game in the NHL and I wanted to see the other 325 or so players that have played 1,000+ games

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...0_games_played

A couple of names shocked me on the list

    1) Brad May
    2) Steve Staios

What players shocked you in playing 1,000 games? Also, from a hobby standpoint, would this make an interesting collection idea (why or why not)?

See https://www.ebay.com/usr/nine_pockets's Items on eBay Instagram:

Three players surprised me the most:

    Matt Stajan (1,003 GP)
    Dan Hamuis (1,031 GP)
    Daymond Langkow (1,090 GP)

    Other things:

    (1) Mike Sillinger didn't surprise me at all, but you've got to love the list of teams he played for: Detroit, Anaheim, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Florida, Ottawa, Columbus, Phoenix, St. Louis, Nashville, N.Y. Islanders.

    (2) It's awesome that both Courtnall brothers are on the list (Geoff 1,048 / Russ 1,029).

    (3) I'm a little surprised that only two of the Sutter brothers made it.

    Brent: 1,111
    Ron: 1,093
    Rich: 874
    Brian: 779
    Duane: 731
    Darryl: 406

    (4) Other brothers who came pretty close?

    The Richards (Henri 1,256 / Maurice 978)
    The Jokinens (Olli 1,231 / Jussi 951)
    The Espositos (Phil 1,282 / Tony 886)
    The Mullens (Joe 1,062 / Brian 832)
    The Samuelssons (Ulf 1,080 / Kjell 813)
    The Turgeons (Pierre 1,294 / Sylvain 669)
    The Hunters (Dale 1,407 / Dave 746 / Mark 628)

And yes, I think this would make for a pretty cool collection idea. Here's why:

-- If you choose just one card for each player, the collection would be mostly affordable.
-- With a current total of around 325 cards, it would fit easily in one binder.
-- You'd get quite a range of players (forwards, defensemen, scorers, grinders) from quite a range of decades.
-- Once you had all the players, you wouldn't have to add more very often.
-- It's a great way to pay tribute to the guys who were able to last that long in the NHL. 1,000 games is a remarkable accomplishment.

few of the injury prone guys surprised me, Marian Gaborik, Brian Gionta, Matt Stajan etc plus some enforcers like Donald Brashear, Lyle Odelein, Mike Grier.

Overall, hats off to the guys who make it 1000 games in the NHL. it is quite an accomplishment that takes major dedication and determination to get too. It shows that anyone can make it to 1000 games, Generational Talents, Superstars, 1st Liners, Top 6 Players, Checkers, Grinders, Enforcers, Goalies, Starters/Backups.

I can't say that too many surprised me.... though one that stuck out:

Eric Brewer (1,009 GP). I knew it was around for a long time, but I didn't think that long. I thought he was basically a part time or injured player... basically for the second half of his career... which was long, but not THAT long.

I was surprised how few games Charlie Huddy played (1,017).
