Luongo has been a real treat to watch and an even better treat to follow on Twitter (I'm convinced he has a ghost writer tweet for him, dude is hilarious).
It was time however for him to move on. I'm sure he'll have no problem continuing in the league as a coach or scout, or even as a media/social media personality.

Great player, always wished he was able to get that Cup in 2011. He will do well in hockey after his playing days are over. Future HHOF'er for sure!
Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

Roberto Luongo was a great goalie and he had a sure-fire hall of fame career. As of today, he is third in the all-time wins list with 489. Too bad he didn't hit 500 wins or bring the Canucks a cup in 2011, but I have a feeling he'll have a shot at getting his name on the cup as a coach in the future.
It should be noted, however, that for all the heartfelt words he had for the fans and the Canucks organization, his contract does screw over the Canucks for the next few years, and the Canucks have nobody to blame but Mike Gillis LOL
