The Calgary Flames Hockey Club announced today that David Moss has been named the recipient of the Ralph T. Scurfield Humanitarian Award. The Scurfield Award is presented each year to the Flames player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and leadership on the ice, combined with dedication to community service.

In his third season with the Calgary Flames David Moss has developed into not only a top point producer but also an affluent, well-spoken and dedicated participant in all Calgary Flames community relations efforts. While elevating his skill level this season he has also elevated his commitment to community service.

David Moss has been actively involved in the Flames literacy program Reading...Give it a Shot! since his first year as a Flame and has developed into the spokesman for the program. “I have been a part of the program for the last three seasons and really appreciate the support we get from the students,” says Moss “It is great to see kids excited about reading.”
