Stupid question but do players actually sign the cards
Do companies like Upper Deck, Panini, Zenith, list goes on and on send the cards to the players for them to sign and then they send them back or is it just like a stamp or print?
So for 10/11 UD Ultimate theres /99 Taylor Hall cards out there, if i lined up every single one they should not be the exact same correct?
Like i said dumb question but im curious
Thx

Correct. They actually sign the cards. Just check eBay and look at each autographed card. Each autograph is unique.
Just look at the four Hall autographs in my signature. All four are slightly different.

If they didn't the entire hobby would not exist as it is today because UD/Panini/ITG/Topps would have all gone out of business after having had their pants sued off for fraud.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

yeah basically what everyone else said...the only other point worth making that that of sticker autos....those are where the company just send the player a sheet of stickers to sign (usually a lot) and then the player signs those, and the company places those on cards at their choosing...so the card itself was never in the hand of the player, just the sticker was....but not all cards are made this way...more of the higher end up ones tend to be hard signed

yes the players sign cards. just look at all the redemptions. had the players returned cards on time or if the companies were able to churn out their own autograph cards, there wouldn't be any redemptions.

Luke Adam came into the lcs near my house and I talked to him for half-hour and asked him the same question-"Do players sign all thier own cards?" He sais yes. The difference in the auto`s results on where they sign and how they feel. At home at a desk the signature may be perfect but on a plane flying to the next city for a game it would look different. I know if I had to sign 999 signatures at different times of the day and different places none of mine would look the same. Some people have the notion that the player sits there and signs all of them at the same time at one sitting. They probably have 10,000 cards from all different products and sign whenever they get a chance.

Great point! I've always thought that MacInis signed the 2007-08 Trilogy Scripts cards very sloppy, which is odd for him...this would possible explain why :-)
