    Greatest Gangster Film

What is the greatest gangster film of all time? Well, we're going to vote to find out. Here are the nominees:

    Godfather
    Goodfellas
    Casino
    Pulp Fiction
    Bugsy
Once Upon a Time in America
    Scarface
    Carlito's Way
    Reservoir Dogs
    Snatch
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells
    Mean Streets
    The Departed
    The Untouchables
    Miller's Crossing
    Donnie Brasco
    Road to Perdition
    White Heat
    On the Waterfront
    A Bronx Tale
    LA Confidential
Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead
    The Usual Suspects
    True Romance

We're going to do it tourney style. The poll is set up into pairings so we don't have to do a separate thread for each matchup. Vote for one movie in each of the 8 matchups. The top 8 seeds get a bye to the 2nd round (Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface, Casino, Pulp Fiction, Carlito's Way, On the Waterfront, and White Heat).

I had actually never heard of it. I looked at several "Best of" lists and it wasn't on there, probably because it's so new (2008) and lesser known.

For the most part, it's going as I expected. I'm a little shocked and happy that True Romance is keeping it relatively close and Things to Do in Denver got some votes. Those are two of my favorites, but I know they're not considered the best of the genre. I did expect Miller's Crossing to take that one pretty easily (but I figured it might not be as well known) and Mean Streets to at least keep it closer.

I'll leave this up for another day or two to make sure we get a vote from everyone who wants to, then we'll move on to Round 2!
