Confued about Canada Post..
So I sent something registered mail the other day...I check where the item is at, and it says this:
Canada Post processing error; item re-routed. Possible delay
Okay, so im getting confused...Because apparently it has already reached its destination city.
Is this normal, especially after the strike?
Cheers,
Andrew

Oooohhhh...sorry to hear that. Once, I had an item (not canada post, but UPS here in the states) get sent from Maryland, made it just about into NY state, when it was re-routed out to Indiana, then to Ohio, then back to me in NY state...added an extra like week to my delivery...never could get a straight answer on what happened. At least I got my package...hope all works out for you.

Thanks guys!:)
Makes me feel a little better that at least I didn't like accidentally write in the wrong address.
Also, it wouldn't go over the US border would it? Because i sent it to another canadian destination.
Cheers,
Andrew

You should call Canada Post and ask them what the hold up is. I know they are holding back alot of mail right now. They refuse to pay the letter carriers Overtime to get the mail caught up and they have tonnes and tonnes (literally) of mail laying around their processing plants right now. They should be embarassed by their lack of dedication to the paying customer. They're trying to make themselves look like they got hurt because of the current lockout. Volumes are not down and they're hurting themselves more now. I'm waiting on at least 12 packages from before the strike and I'm getting mail arriving at my hom from after the strike was over........how does this make any sense??

They are still trying to catch up and so far it isn't working.
I have been getting mail that has been sent after the lockout was over, but nothing from roughly June 9th to June 30th.
Current count is 26 "packages" that I am expecting in that time frame but nothing yet :(

Canada Post Basics
40 years experience with Canada Post. After any type of labour disruption getting back to "Normal" is a process that takes upwards of 30 days. Especially true during the summer vacation phase for letter carriers and other workers.
Routing is problematic. Normal routing was disrupted by the rotating strikes but there is no clear policy about getting mail caught in between to its final destination. Do not assume that the shortest distance option will be activated.
To provide an example. One day before the lockout a package < 1 KG was shipped to a destination app. 150 kilometers due east. The day afyer the lockout ended a similar package was shipped app 175 KM due NW with longer routing. One guess which one arrived first.

I had something shipped to me via Canada Post using tracking and xpresspost and it hasn't moved since 6/23

it could be stuck in customs (ive had this happen several times) and all of a sudden it just show up tomorrow...i know its crazy to have to wait for xpresspost but ive had packages sent regular mail (with a single stamp) arrive quicker than paying $20 for xpresspost now that is absolute insanity...good luck with your packages guys and hope they all arrive soon.

I've had that happen, it most likely ended up going to the wrong depot and they have to reroute it to the right one, probably just got sent on the wrong truck.
