1993-94 MCDonalds UD Autographs??
http://cgi.ebay.com/1993-94-Mcdonalds-Doug-Gilmour-Autograph-SSP-/170666127895?pt=US_Hockey_Trading_Cards&hash=item2 7bc7e7217
More detailed information about these cards anyone? How these were available? Any clue how many of these were made?
Thanks.

Based on what I have read about the 1993-94 McDonald's product, there were a bunch of scarce redemption cards inserted into the packs which offered redemptions for various things, and possibly one of them being autographed cards of the McDonald's.
If not, at the very least, it appears that it could be a buyback auto if it is not really one of those random McDonald's prizes.

So you're thinking that those 93-94 McD AU buybacks exicts? I have never seen such a card.
This auction is a real thing, it is hologram certified and exactly same as mine card. I have a also bigger certified card with it.
Thanks anyway! So I suppose these are extremely rare cards.

I'm 99.99999% sure this is legit. There were redemptions in that product for an Oversized Roy card (which was faily easy to get) but I'm pretty sure that Gilmour and Bure had autographed cards that were available via redemption too.
Going to do a little digging.....

There's a guy in Quebec whose got a website, with all the Autograph / Game Used cards from McDonalds over the year..... I can't remember what his name or the site is.
I do have this link from Beckett though:

I'm sure this was available via redemption. It's the same as the base card, except that hologram / sticker on the top of the back of the card is there (matching with the COA, no doubt).

Thanks Sean.
Yeah, I have also seen those McD pages somewhere. Do we agree that these are extremely short 'prints'?

Probably not "extremely SP" by today's standards. I'm just going to go on wild speculatoin (I have NO information to back this up) but I'd be surprised to learn that McDonalds made those cards with less than 500 copies.
The thing is though, 500 copies of a card from 93-94 makes it very rare today. I don't think that makes it an $800 card, but I do think you'll have a very hard time finding many copies.
McDonalds cards have the same problem as modern MVP or Victory. A lot of the real higher end hits would have ended up in the hands of kids, not dealers. Even if they were in the hands of people who were more "hobbiests" instead of kids at the time - how many of those people are still activly dealing in hockey cards today? Then there is the un-redeemed factor (who knows what would have happened to those).
Maybe I'm over estimating at 500 cards - maybe it's more like 100..... but I would suspect you'll see very few copies of it floating around.

I guess that 500 is maeby too much. I just tried to locate the guy's McDonald's card collection site but failed. I Found this one:

100 made sounds pretty right.
I do remember that the guy who collect's those McD stuffs, priced its 400$ worth (Gilmour AU)
Imo fair price could be 200-250$ for it.

The 93-94 autographed upperdeck mcdonalds cards are semi-rare but not super rare (I have heard from /250 to /500). I have also seen the website that was referred to. The $400 asking price that he has is out of touch with reality. I have three: Gilmour, Bure, and Sakic which I purchased for $70-$130 and I have seen six sell on ebay mostly for around $100 each (one did go for about $300 but it was the seller bidding on his own card to drive up the price, be careful on ebay, as a certain seller does it every time). They are not like the /5 or /10 patches that appeared later. If you have one I am trying to finish the set so I could give you a good price.

If you are looking to buy one. Just have a little patience, they aren't as rare as you might think and you should reasonably be able to pick one up for around $100, give or take.
