Have We Learned Nothing from the NHL?

We are 12 days from the start from what should be the start of the training camp for the Cleveland Browns. As of this posting, the NFL lockout is no closer to being resolved as it was in March. Then last week, the NBA became the 2nd league to lock it’s players out in 2011 on the 1st of July. The first time that 2 of the major North American Sport leagues have had a labor stoppage running concurrently.

The last time a league locked out it’s players was the NHL. The 2004-05 season was cancelled because the 2 sides could not come up with a deal in the needed time in order to salvage some type of season. That lockout last over 300 days and it can be argued that the players got the worse end of the deal at the time.

Basically every major organization is reporting the deal will be done at the July 21st owners meetings and FA will start the following week - not sure how the lockout is "no closer" to being done then it was in March.

Am I the only one that thinks a lockout in the off-season is a waste of time?

the NHL lockout completely worked for the owners. Unfortunately the NFL and NBA owners have learned a lot from the NHL and are making what they feel is a needed market correction.

The NFL season won't be affected, but I really think the NBA is going to miss the 2011-12 season.

Hearsay it may be - but saying it's the same situation now as it was in March is pretty asinine.
