How long do you think the lockout will last?
It seems they are still a good distance apart. Star players are talking of playing overseas and the owners aren't budging. Do you think its all posturing or will we lose an entire season?

I hope soon!
The lockout wont last as long as we think into nba games. ESPN and the TV networks will lose $1 billion plus if that happens and money is power. Something will work out next couple months or so. I can only hope though!

Unfortunately i think this season is completely lost.
I think some owners are convinced that in the long run it would be more beneficial to their teams to lose an entire season than continue with the direction the league is going in.
The two sides are tooooo far apart.

Honestly I think the players need to give in. They make ridiculous amounts of money and they can't expect the owners to lose money year after year.

They seem to be too far apart to be honest. I think the season may be in jeopardy. Majority of the teams/owners are losing money while the players aren't hurting for money and would like more of the same. The only pressure I could see on the owners is from the owners in the black who will be losing money if there was no season. But I doubt that happens anytime soon.

When you think about it, the salary cap and the guaranteed contracts are all about the top tier players. The bench warmers don't take up much of the salary and don't have guaranteed contracts anyway. Yes the superstars bring in the fans. They are reason people go the the games and tune in on TV and radio. But they are also making an obscene amount of money and the owners for the most part are losing money year after year. The owners are businessmen and consider owning the team an investment.
I am a huge Kobe fan, but if his salary drops from 23 million to 15 million, I won't feel bad for the guy. And that's before endorsements, heck he could play for free and still make 20 million a year just on endorsements.

Well they won't actually lose a billion dollars. The NBA game may generate a billion or more in ad revenue, but they would only lose that money if they replaced he games with nothing but dead air time. They will air some other program that will generate almost if not just as much revenue as the games. And remember, they pay big bucks for the rights to air those games, so that cost goes away as well.

Actual they made a report on it. It was like 1.3 billion if the lockout last. I dont know if you have sirius radio but Scott Ferral on howard 101 talks about it. I really says who cares if they lose all the money. There already rich. I don't mind them giving salaries cut either. They make way to much as of right now. They have one of the easiest and most fun jobs in the world. They are not putting there lives out on the line for $50k a year like our soldiers do. They should be the ones getting the millions!
