    Advice for TTM Newbies

    Hello

I'm new to the hobby of collecting TTM and was just looking for a little advice. I figured that there might be members who are also new to this so I thought I'd start a thread.

My first question: I recently wrote to a player but received nothing back for around half a year by now. That said, I've seen elsewhere on the internet a card from somebody who sent a card later than me and received something back already. I know no player owes it to you to sign anything you sent them, but I was just wondering if writing to the player again for an autograph around 9 months after the first letter is considered tactful?

    Thanks
    Nange

You can send another request. It is likely that your original one got lost in a stack of mail anyway, it's not like he took note of your name and refused to sign and will remember if you try again. Good luck!

I was reading a thread on another site and saw that a guy got someone's autograph like six times in 6 months, so it's doubtful he'll mind. Go for it!

I'd send another request. Just make sure you write a nice note/letter, use please thank you, and have a SASE with your stuff.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Another quick question: How does 50/50 work?

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Another quick question: How does 50/50 work?

You send someone two items of one person...one for them to get signed and send back to you, and one for them to keep for themselves in exchange for getting your item signed. For example:

You can get as many Derek Jeter autographs as you like and would take 50/50's. I would send you two items (two cards, two baseballs, two photos, anything). You would get one signed for me mail it back. Then you would keep the other. Simple enough?

If the player has played for multiple teams sometimes they won't sign cards of teams they no longer play for so that might help if the guy you sent to has been on more than one team.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Have a new question for y'all.

How do Canadian TTM collectors get American stamps for SASE from American teams? I've searched far and wide for American stamps here in Toronto but nobody sells them because...well...they're technically useless here.

What keywords do you use for the search? Or do you know any sellers that I can trust?
