I hear what you're saying..... but you've also got to look at from the other perspective.
Remember - some people's hobby is breaking boxes, keeping a few cards (they want) for themselves, and moving the rest. If they sell, it will let them keep buying more boxes.
I would also point out, that even when someone busts a REALLY good box (or case) they're not making money. Not normally, anyway.
Personally, I'm glad they do it, becuase it gives me an easy shot at getting the cards I want.

Here's my take. I'm pretty new here and totally new to trading and I'm SO disorganized that money works a lot easier for me than cards. I want a Richard Brodeur jersey from one of the members here and he's into Mark Messier and Ryan Callahan, among others. Now I LOVE the idea of trading, it's FUN, but it took me 55 minutes to find two cards to offer him. Maybe I should clean up my area before I try again, but it would so much easier to throw 10 bucks at him hahahahaaaa.....

I don't have a problem with guys buying cards from each other, or selling some cards to recoup costs.
I am talking about people who break a CASE or TWO of an expensive product, and won't even check a bucket or tell me what they are looking for for their PC to try and make a trade happen.
all 5 of my replies today were simply:
"Cards are for Sale only"
Nobody said, "I'm looking for player A or Player B" or "Sorry, I didn't see anything I could use in your Bucket"
the cards are for sale.
THAT is my problem. Busting a whole case of product and INSTA-LISTING it.
People are welcome to make it a business if they want, I just get tired of seeing a Hobby forum like this get turned into a place where only 25% or less of the members are even willing to consider a trade.

i think you missed my point lol..how do people get cards they want when people who want their cards dont have cards they like...yup trade for dollars to in turn get what i want...what fun is a hobby when you trade a guy cards you dont want for more cards you dont want? lol
its always a trade..but some call it a sale..a trade is when one person gets something they want and in turn the other person gets something they want..so you can be technical and call a sale a trade...its all the same..you can just get further in this hobby with cash then certain cards is allLast edited by jdawg; 07-21-2011 at 12:06 AM.

"You can get further in "INSERT ANYTHING HERE" with Cash than certain 'ANYTHING HERE' is all.
That's all i'm trying to point out.
I also however, sell things that people want if they can't work a trade. I buy the same way, secondarily.

I'm a trader only. I don't buy or sell. My meager left over cash goes to picking up packs or the occasional box, which replenishes my traders. Everyone out there is looking for SOME player. Well, as long as they aren't looking at this hobby as an investment...

Keep in mind that some of these case crackers are looking to recoup their costs for the money they've invested into the product. They're not necessarily collecting, though they may save some hits from the breaks for themselves, but rather if they own a store (virtual or B&M) then those cards have been bought for the purpose of being flipped. Think of it this way: if I'm Richard Casebreaker and I have a rather particular want list, it's much easier and practical for me to get my case of High End Product UD, break it, sell the monster hit, and take that cash to fill my want list, relative to busting, trading cards to people and ultimately landing a card that the guy who holds my card wants. It's always nice to take a couple of steps out of the road to the ultimate destination.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'd rather just buy the cards from someone then trade anyway. Most of the cards are I own are PC so it just makes sense. If it's an issue why not just sell some of the cards you are willing to trade, so you can have some paypal to spend on here.
