    Quick question about Cup RCs

Are the patches "game-worn" or "event-worn"? Thanks -JT

Depends on the year..... I think all the 05-06 stuff was game worn...... and someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that all the RCs since have used event worn stuff.

Not at home right now, so I can't check the back of the few I have. Someone else, I'm sure, should be able to give a for sure answer.

for 05-06 Cup, only the /99's were game worn. there were also 2 others as i believe they were redemptions made later.

as for the OP's question, almost all rookie year cards seem to be photoshoot jerseys. the rookies are still wearing their jerseys and playing when the cards are being released that season.

Yeah I realize that most rookie jersey cards are photoshoot worn, I was just curious about the Cup since they are released so much later than the end of the season.

Another question for you guys, does the photoshoot jerseys cheapen the rookie jersey cards at all for anyone since they are not game worn? For me, I would rather a "game-worn" than "event-used"... But maybe I'm just the oddball....

You're not the odd ball at all.

Don't get me wrong - I like to collect rookie cards of players, and the photo shoot jersey can make a card look really nice..... but I also like to collect game used cards - and I can be very picky with what I get, due to this exact reason.

For a lot of older players (i.e. pre-lockout) I try to stick to pre-lock out GU cards..... for the most part, Photoshoot jerseys wern't as common then.

Cup may be released later in the season but all products are produced months in advance so that they can be sent out for the athletes to sign adn return.

as for rookies, photoshoot jerseys don't bother me. it's understandable with rookies at least. put a photoshoot jersey next to a game worn jersey next to an event worn jersey and chances are you'd never be able to tell which was which anyway. and even if you have a card with a "game worn" piece of jersey, who's to say there wasn't a mixup when they were making the cards and the red PK Subban jersey piece is really a red Carey Price jersey piece? you'd never know anyway.

good point, just because my henrik karlsson has a red swatch doesn't mean it's not a jarome iginla swatch.. or any team using that same red in their jersey.
If anyone could prove this had happened, credibility would be an issue.
