Hot Pack Question
I've been around the hobby for 15 years, been online: ebay, message boards etc since I was a teenager. And I've always wondered but never really cared to ask....
How can Hot Packs be determined?
Im fairly ignorant on the subject, but Im sure its not simply feeling packs, or one more hit in the box down to the last pack situation. How can be people be 100% certain a Hot Pack is indeed that. I really want to know after all these years of not paying much attention to it.
For the record... I am not trying to learn any trick or secret.. I dont care about getting guaranteed hits I enjoy collecting. And I dont remember the last time I bought loose packs that were not already guaranteed. Any info on the subject would be cool.

I feel as if there must be more to it than what your first thoughts would be. I cannot see people relying on feeling packs and guaranteeing that to others. Seems like itd be 100 negative feedback waiting to happen when constant decoys pop up

you can feel the bump from the stickers on autos and the bump from the gu pieces...nothing more to it unless you have a resealer or a scale....its that simple mostly done by feel...be careful people like myself will flame you if you think its a good idea

well im telling you thats all it is basically...dont over think it common sense says the gu and sticker autos are higher in certain areas...decoy cards are all flat...so until they make decoy cards with indents or rises in them to simulate gu and sticker autos then it will be done by feel....

For ex. Someone opens a case of Certified football. They get their case hit and keep all other good hits. What they will then do is take the same wrappers that they have carefully opened, fill it with base and put in the SCRUB auto or gu card they have. Then they toss it on ebay as a hot pack guaranteeing either a gu or auto hit.

This is exactly why I would never buy hot packs. You never know what you are getting and 99x out of 100 you are just getting worthless junk. If I want a particular card bad enough I will either buy or trade for it.
Drug and smoke free trading.
