Why are Larry Doby balls so expensive ?
I mean I know he was the first African American in the American League. But he passed in 2003 at 79 so you would think there would be a lot of balls out there signed by him. I just picked up this nice ball with HOF inscription and got a PSA/DNA quick opinion and it came back "Likely Genuine" for my HOF PC. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130558991135&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Maybe he just didn't sign to many balls or something ? Just wondering if anyone knows anything ?

Clear signature. The flash made it look faded.

Does it have any kind of authentication at all ? I don't know, maybe he just didn't put an inscription on many. There is some reason his balls are this high. Let me get back with you on this ball after I see how a few of my other eBay auctions go first.

He only had a few years as a living HOF'er and he wasn't as chased as many other HOF'ers at the time. His place in history is equally significant as well.
