these stories amaze me. I have never "felt packs" before until theyre bought. For example out of last years finest fb, it was ridiculously easy to tell what my hit was out of each mini box. So I just saved that pack for last for a little excitement. Thats about the extent of it for me. I've never witnessed or attempted feeling loose packs at a card store before. Odd.

If you get caught pack searching in a card store you will get tossed out.....hard! These guys look at Walmart and Target....
I have seen youtube vids on hot only how they find the hits, but use tin foil and a crayon, and can tell WHO the hit is.
I will never ever buy a loose pack from a department store...ever

I ashamed to admit it, but I've tried this once (go ahead flame me, I deserve it), and got a hit. A no-name GU jersey piece, so that serves me right. I really felt bad about it though and won't do it anymore. I rarely buy packs anyway.
The next pack I bought though, I just picked up the top pack and threw it on the counter. Pulled a Harper Auto. Go figure.

i never tried to feel a pack or anything but ill tell you a method i like to use when buying packs that has worked great for me since i came back to collecting. first off i only buy from either full or close to full boxes, then i randomly pick a pack from each row. i used to just buy the packs in order from the top but it never really got me that many great pulls. then i started randomly picking from rows and it did a hell of alot better.
its not cheating,im not feeling the packs, just picking them out with my eyes and go buy them.

This is an inevitable progression in the hobby. Create the cards and the demand for them and people will find a way to corner the market. This is why I always tell people to do their homework, ask questions and if you really want something, buy it or trade for it.
To me the saddest part of all of the pack searching is for the young kids whose parents buy these packs. The kids want to collect and think they have a chance, when some guy has already ravaged all the packs and picked the place clean.

I guess that is one reason why people who buy rack packs like to go for the sets with Redemptions in them.

why would you say that? They are finding the best ways to maximize their money. I don't see anything wrong with what they are doing, let alone having it result in someone beating them up and getting charged with assault. People need to come back to reality and realize that its just cards.

While I agree they are just cards, they are just that, cards. So why does a person need to take an opportunity away from everyone else? While I do agree there is no need for violence.
