Thoughts-
Its safe to say that Tristar does it best to listen to collectors and attempt to put out a set that attempts to make all fans happy. As hard as they may try, it will never happen but the fact that they do says they care about the product they put out.
Ive always dug their base sets until now. With the blue border scheme, it lacks and seems too plain for me. I find this to be a step back but at the sametime, I think they still did a fine job in what images were used on the cards.
Something else I didnt care for in the base set was the "Impact Debut" cards. Bully Ray, Christy Hemme, and Anarquia just as a few. Theyve been on TNA before, granted it seems to be a show name change but I dont think that really makes it a "debut". As a collector a debut is their very first time on that brands trading card or show period.
Even though I dont care for the base set design, I do like it with the event used and autograph cards.
I like the event used a little more this go around vs. past releases. Since Icons with the Hogan letter swatch, theyve continued it here with Rick Flair. Its a nice change of pace to mix it up a little compared to the rest of the event used cards. I also like the "Impact Size" swatch cards as well.
The fact that there are fewer single event used cards makes this a better release for me because alot of those can be left by the wayside when people crack a ton of boxes. The dual Hardy is a nice snag if you can get it along with the 2 different triples and 2 different quads, the talent used on those cards make ALOT of sense and I hope they continue that with future releases.
At this time I have yet to see a Hogan or Flair autograph event used card. Im sure they are tough hits and will fetch a pretty penny on the secondary market.
Back on to the autograph cards, to me this is probably one of the most complete lineups available. Even though the last two sets didnt include ODB, I understand why she miss the cut and I think I can forgive them for that.
As mentioned previously, I didnt care for the new design with the base cards but I think it works really well with the autographs. Speaking for myself I say this is the 2nd nicest design on the autograph cards behind New Era. I would throw TNA Knockouts into the mix but it would be a little unfair not having any of the male talent having any autographs but being strictly ladies, that was a nice one too.
Overall thoughts on this release are tough. With the increase in hits per box brings an increase on price for the collectors. You either have to buy several boxes and hope you dont get duplicate SP cards or you try to buy them. With 9 total, it could be expensive or hopefully you find them on the cheap from a casebreaker or two.
Even though they were two random boxes numbered far apart, its a tough pill to swallow for collectors to have their 2 "bigger" hits be the same card. Im vaguely familiar with the packing out process but Id like to see better quality control with this if possible. I can honestly say I would make the same remarks if they were one of the 7 or 8 signed cards or even used autographs etc etc. Sure, those people would be happier but to have those two almost identical hits happen like that could upset collectors, especially if they had been lesser famous talent.
As mentioned in previous thoughts and reviews on TNA products, Id like to see the print plates make a comeback, as well as redemptions for premium items like Cross the Line and New Era had.
Overall I have to say if you are a TNA fan, this is a set you should try to break a box or two if you can afford it. If not, snag what you can on various trading sites. Its tough to give collectors what they want and keep costs down as much as possible, especially in this economy, but I think Tristar still does a better job with TNA than Topps does with the WWE.
Contest Portion-
Part 1. Guess the serial numbers. Over or under, it doesnt matter. The only one I outed was the quad event used #d /5. Attempt a guess on every card, all 4 parallels, the 1 event used, and all 6 of the autographs. Since this is done on more than one site, if you guess the same number on one site, that someone guessed on another site, whoever guessed first gets priority.
Part 2. Give your opinion on the review and where you think they could improve and what you would like to see done with future releases.
You MUST include #1 and #2 with your answers. Put some effort into it please! If the opinion portion is good enough, its entirely possible I can get some more prize material in the mix.
This will be open for at least 1 wk. Depending on the action its getting in guessing and replies, I may hold it over longer.
Edited answers are voided, if you forget a guess sorry, make it count.
Since this will be posted on more than one site, theres a chance they may take an issue with it and delete it and tell me no! This isnt intended to promote any one site on others etc etc. If anyone has questions, dont hesitate to drop me a pm in order to keep the guessing portion of the thread clean and free of clutter.
If you find this on another site, feel free to make different serial number guesses.
I will be giving away most if not all of the hits, I may keep a dual for myself and the quad /5 for trading purposes *cough*ODB*cough*. Ill also have five sets of 5 card TNA obak cards from the 2011 Nattys as well as a TNA XL shirt. On top of that I still have some hits from past releases Ill be giving away from New Era to Icons and Xtreme.
Hopefully I covered all the bases, if I have to edit anything, Ill note it at the end of the OP.
Have at it!

Great review I agreed with everything.. the blue borders are boring, I dont like the fact that repeat offers are tagged as Debut just because they have either changed their name or job position. I always like how you put a variety of the base cards instead of the usual 1 that most reviews show. The only thing I thought you could improve on was to go into detail that this year there are 3 different TNA signature boxes you can get..Sting, Hogan, and Flair each with a sp card that meatches who is on the box . It would have been nice to have ODB in aswell although they probably had this set made 4 months before she arrived back.. I just wish they would get rid of Jackie she cant wrestle anymore and shes dragging ODB down.

I liked your reveiw. I disagree somewhat with the blue trim, I would like to see the trim as a different color like WWE2010 was for the SP cards. I dont like that it is just a stamp, I missed it on one of my cards the 1st time thru. I like the photos they used for the cards, always have with TNA.
As for the relics, I was very happy with the line up and love the look of the relic cards.
Autos is a bit of a touchy subject. Some collectors may love that they include thw whole roster,I dont. There are autos in every TNA set that do not need to be there. Like Hemme and Val. As much as I love him and want one Taz is no longer a wrestler so shouldn't have his own auto, a double with Taz and Mike would be fine by me. Hemme, JB, Val they do not need an auto at all. Also the fact that Sabin and Shelley have NO auto in this set and the 3 i just listed do make me sad.
I would also like to see a little better "sorting" into the hits. You opened 2 boxes and got 3 Val autos, ok the box numbers are far apart but that still put 2 Val autos in one box. My box had a Moore auto and a Moore/Neal auto. At a price of $75+ they should give you one main event auto (ie current, former world champions) so you dont feel cheated. Now you have that here, RVD and Joe. Me and a friend opened 4 boxes and only got 1 main event auto, Styles/Daniels. That is a tough pill to sallow.
This is only the 2nd time I picked up a full box of TNA, have all the set but Knockouts, and I think for my money it will be better to just buy the one box, because it is fun to open them and the hope of a big hit, and then just buy up all the rest of the hit you really want.

I am not really sure where to start. The product its self is very nice looking and comes off as top of the line. I enjoy the blue borders. I have also kind of disliked the photos that tristar has used for Tna, or Impact has used. but they seem like they have started to go with beautiful photos. The base looks nice enough, I'm not a big fan of base cards so its hard for me to really get jazzed about them, but they look nice enough. I never really understood the obak cards, and why they considered them "HITS". But again, they look nice, and I am sure they are very cool for the people that are into them. The subsets are really nice, I enjoy the Kurt's angle and RVD cool vibes, type cards. its always fun to here a wrestler sounding off on another wrestler. As for swatches. I love and I mean LOVE the Impact sized swatches. I think they loove amazing and have a great card design. and judging from what i have seem on ebay and forum, they didn't waste them by sticking a giant black swatches on the card. they used beautiful multi colored fabrics. and they look simply stunning. The standard autos are more of the what we have come to expect from tristar. very nice classy looking cards, but nothing special. The duel autos look nice, and make sense. they are ether tag teams or rivals. and that awesome. the triple autos are the same as the duel for the most part. although I'm not sure what rvd had to do with the hardy boys (insert 420 joke here). and now we get to the quad autos... They are cool, and believe me, Its makes an awesome pull. it really does. But some of the auto seem to be thrown on there for no real reason other then "lets make a card with a bunch of tops stars signatures on it. and it honestly, just gets worse and worse more autos they fit on the card. Why hulk hogan mickey james, tara, ric flair, sting, velvet sky, Angelina Love and jeff hardy are all on a card together is beyond me. it really is. And in the end I guess the biggest problem, witht he set is the people they have signing, Granted its alot better hit wise then some of the non sports products that come out. but here is the problem. I don't want to spend 80+ dollars on a box that there is 80% chance of pulling two autos that Ether i don't care about (Jeremy Borash, Mike Tenay, or Murphy) or from guys that aren't with the company anymore. and are more then likely done being in the national spotlight forever, guys like max and Jeremy buck, Amazing Red or Jay Lethal. even though I am a huge fan of the last 4 guys, their autos sell for NOTHING and its not worth me spending my box money to rip them. honestly unless The guy you pull is in the top 90th percent of the roster, you are taking a HUGE HIT in your wallet. and i understand that you can't just have boxes filled with hogan flair and sting autos. but could you try to make sure that I don't get two autos from the same guy in one box (I have seen a few box breaks from this set where this has happened.) becouse the only thing worse then pulling an Anarquia auto, is pulling two of them. I've been I fan of tristars tna series, since the beginning. but they should wait a full year before releasing another set.

Its been brought to my attn that I needed to ask permission to run a contest on SCF so theres a chance this may get shut down. If youre a member on non sports card forum, Im running it there as well and you can enter it there with no problems.

#2 / 1) I like the blue border on these base cards. I believe that it really helps the image on the cards stand out as opposed to no border. However, they might could have used a different color for the border. That color blue does not scream TNA to me. 2) I fully agree with you concerning the debut cards. A debut is a debut, and to make it simple if it is not your debut than you should not get a debut card. I do not understand how they find this acceptable. 3) I love the autograph cards. While I do not like the blue border on the base cards I think the blue border looks great on the autograph cards. That blue ink on the white background border bordered in blue looks really nice to me. 4) I like the EU, but I am not sure that I really like them. There is something that is missing, but I am not sure what it is. However, that quad 2/5 is very nice on its own.
