Is Tim Thomas a dominant, dynasty-type netminder?
I guess I don't really know how to word this. lol Is he a goalie that will affect the tecniques of future NHL goaltenders like Roy did and is he a player that can remain dominant and a game/league/position difference maker for years to come? I guess names like Roy, Brodeur and Hasek come to mind. Could Thomas, at his age, be like that?

The words "Tim Thomas" and "technique" do not belong in the same sentence. LOL
He's a very good goaltender, absolutely, but I don't think he's in the same category as the three goalies you mentioned. Two of them (Roy & Brodeur) are the type of positional goaltenders that re-defined the position - nearly every netminder now uses some form of the butterfly. Hasek is the precursor to Thomas in that neither of them are pretty to watch, but they somehow still make the saves. Even though both Hasek & Thomas have pretty stocked trophy cases, I don't think that what they do is really something that they'll be teaching at goalie schools anytime soon. I mean, really, how do you teach this to a kid?

lol Well, I think Luongo has stated that Tim's technique isn't butterfly but "battlefly".
But think about it, maybe netminders get too caught up in getting into the perfect position instead of concentrating on stopping the puck at all costs. 
I mean, c'mon, Tim would probably take off his skate and throw it at the puck to stop it if he could.

By that same token, if they're in perfect position then they don't have to go to some of the extreme lengths to make a stop that Thomas or Hasek do. Whereas a positional goalie can make a spectacular save look routine, Thomas/Hasek make routine saves look spectacular.

Tim Thomas is a goalie that knows how to stop the puck. He doesn't play to just one "technique" so to speak. He will do whatever he needs to to be effective. And it's obvious he is one of the most dominant since he won the cup and the veznia last season.
Its just a shame that he doesn't have too much time left due to his age.

The problem with not having the technique or positioning, is that you need to try and make saves like that WAY too often, leaving yourself open to injury.

Tim Thomas plays goal like Bernie Parent played, Technically without fault, by that I mean, he does everything correctly within his means to cut down on the scoring probability of the player shooting or moving against him.
His intangibles are:
1. The most sound goalie, Mentally in the game.
2. Age and experience - He's seen the lesser lights, and all of it, had time to hone his skills and become great
3. Attitude. I've never seen an NHL Netminder with such a great positive attitude.
Unfortunately Thomas is not a Spring Chicken and he will have 10 years less playing time than somebody like Marty Brodeur, but for now, he is the King of the Mountain and very deserving of that title.

I would imagine a lot of young American goalies will try to emulate his style thats for sure.
