What style?
Tim Thomas often looks way better than he actually is. If he was ever in position at the beginning of a play, his acrobatics wouldn't be necessary at the end of the play.
It took him 15 years to get where he is now (he was drafter by the Nordiques for crying out loud). He can't have a whole lot more time left in him, even less if he keeps up his *ahem* style of play.
I'd rather have a positional goalie who can make difficult saves look easy, like Roy, than a guy who makes what should be fairly easy look incredibly difficult, like Thomas.

Age clearly matters less in this era, the conditioning of some players is unreal. Thomas and Dwayne Roloson I believe will both contribute to a change in goaltending, allowing future goalies to adopt a butterfly hybrid that's less rigid, and increase their conditioning to raise goaltending to new levels.
Having said that, at least Thomas, with his "no style" goaltending, tries to stop every shot, and isn't content to let in at least one easy goal almost every game, ŕ la Luongo.

2.00 GAA, .938 SV%, 9 SO, and 35 W regular season stats!!! 1.98 GAA, .940 SV%, 4 SO, and 16 Wins play stats!!! Every team would love to have their goalie posting stats like that. Tim Thomas is an incredible story of being drafted in 1994 in the 9th round 217th overall who finally ended up making it to the NHL in 2005/06 and has now won 2 Vezina Trophies and led his team to the Stanley Cup winning the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP. The legacy he leaves will be to never give up and keep working hard if you really want something that much like he wanted to play in the NHL.

I think the point is that his acrobatics are still there, even at his age. He is a very good goalie, definitely not on the level of Roy or Brodeur, but still very good indeed and deserves respect accordingly.
Sorry, I have a soft spot for fellow Michiganders.

when he doesnt come out of his net and play crazy goalie, we all saw in the SCF that he is probably harder to score on then broduer. just as unbeatable as roy too.

Dom Hasek was no different. When he played technical and stayed square to the shooter, he was tough to score on, but people tend to remember his theatrics, good or bad.
Far too many using Roy as a comparison, a technically lousy goaltender, a big game playoff winner, but not a technically sound stopper.

Ding Ding Ding!!! Positionally or no, he's a very talented elite netminder and that cannot be denied. He didn't have an offense padding his stats like Luongo. Was it Daniel or Henrik that led the Canucks in scoring? Either way, the leader had over a hundred points in the regular season and Milan Lucic led the Bruins with what...sixty-something points?
Tim Thomas placed an average team on his back and took them to the ultimate pinnacle (and won) while Luongo dumped his team of All Stars when it mattered most. Now...it could have been fate or by the grace of God, or possibly, the fact that Thomas has two Vezinas in three years might not just be a fluke (probably all three combined).
Stats aren't based on getting into the perfect position. Forget about position and just stop the puck! It's much more simple, is short and to the point and gets the job done.
Sorry, first day of the new college semester and I've just downed a tall coffee and glass-bottled coca-cola so I'm a little hyper right now.

most over rated tender in ...well , ever.
doesn't really have a "style" so I cant imagine any youngsters emulating him. He hasnt carried the team at all, but participated in a real TEAM situation. the B's cup was the best example of a team effort in years

Team effort??? They wouldn't have even made the Stanley Cup Finals without the play of Tim Thomas let alone win the Cup. I posted the stats above and those are stats of a dominant goalie. Also Tim Thomas is a good positional goalie but when things go wrong he something battles and scrambles into making spectacular saves.
