The problem is, even if it does show up at the show there is nothing that will be done. If the police are called, they will let the seller still hold onto the card. Everything would have to be sorted out in the court system in order for the card to actually switch hands.

Even though nothing has happened to me specifically shipping to Quebec, I did deal with a fraud on ebay that had me lose $700, however thankfully the funds were recovered and returned to me.
Sadly, you try to use UPS and ensure it's a little safer than regular mail, and then have this happen. I know all mail gets sorted in the same type of warehouse, but it seems regular Canada post is the better option.
I file everything as "paper", not a card, and I never put any value on any customs forms, just in case someone has the idea to take something that they think could be valuable.
I will probably always scan my buyers and avoid people with limited feedback from Quebec, but there are so many great collectors in that area that I will probably always send stuff out there until I get burned...I just won't send anything with that type of price tag ever. I will keep stuff going that way to less than $100.
HOPEFULLY on Tuesday you hear back from UPS and they at least give you some type of resolution or info. If you can find the seller's real name, you could at least forward that to UPS and we could settle for having the employee fired and charged. Sadly, you would probably never see the card again, but it would be one less person that could steal cards in the future.

I agree, this thread is not meant as a bash on our Quebec members. Max and I do a ton of stuff together, and on more than one occasion I've bought cards worth $1K+ from another member based in Montreal.
This thread just has to do with the large number of items that seem to disappear on their way to said Quebec members.

Okay, but it's still a good idea for people to not bash others. It's just a case of a few bad apples.

I feel the people in Quebec should get a little involved as well seeing that this is going to reflect on them as well. If people stop selling to buyers there all the good collectors and sellers will suffer in the end. If someones card in Quebec diappears , he should start complaining more to the P.O. there. I dont mean not file a claim or anything but try and track down why they didn`t get their card or why it never reached it`s destination from their end too. If both ends don`t complain then we will all suffer.
