I actually messaged back and forth with this guy selling the card. He told me he saw it at a pawn shop, then put it on ebay before buying it. When he saw how high it got he went back to buy it and it was gone so he cancelled it. I told him it was stolen and he gave me the pawn shop story. Of course I dont believe it but I would love to be able to keep him from selling it. That being said I have a feeling it will disappear at the card show in Montreal tomorrow.

Honestly, I think you're safe in that respect.

"a trading card with event-used memorabilia worn at a Rookie Photo shoot by P.K Subban and an autograph of P.K Subban. The autograph was signed in the presence of a company representative or sent from, and certified as to its authenticity by p.k Subban
    Enjoy!"

That was the description he used on the listing? He just copied what it says on the back of the card....these morons have no idea about hockey cards other than the fact they know they are valuable, so I have a tough time believing the guy knows there's a big card show tomorrow.

That being said, even if he does know about the card show, he may be afraid to take it there since he knows lots of people on ebay have already accused him of stealing a card and he may not want to take it to such a big event and risk someone recognizing the card.

Ive actually found his facebook page. He knows more about hockey cards then he let on. Im not posting the name of the guy I send the card to, but rest assured it is NOT the guy who is selling the card.

Haha really? Well, I'm glad you are exploring all options, I wouldn't give up until the cops showed up at my door telling me to stop calling or they would throw me in jail.

Obviously, everyone on SCF knows there are tons of great collectors in the Quebec area, Montreal especially, but one has to wonder whether some of the buyers that are on ebay and not part of a forum are part of these scams.

How does a P.K. Subban card get stolen in QUEBEC of all places when the package not only has NOTHING on it indicating it's a Subban card, but it doesn't even have the value of the package or that it's even a sporting card at all. That seems really fishy to me, regardless of whether the buyer seems like an honest person or not.

If someone at UPS is stealing valuable hockey cards, they must have some sort of connection to know which items to take and when they would be incoming.

It could be as easy as a 2-man scam, 1 person buys the card and tells the other person the name on the package, the other person watches for that package, takes the card, and sends it the rest of the way empty.

Buyer denies everything, pretends to be upset, and leaves the seller with a big problem on their hands.

I HATE making that type of accusation, and I'm not even saying that is what happened, but that seems a lot more plausible than a random UPS worker walking into the warehouse, sifting through thousands of bubble envelops, taking one marked as "card", which could be anything, and ending up with their hometown rookie card worth big money.

All that being said, I still trust people here on SCF, so I doubt that is what happened, but it does make people question everyone involved.

The user is an established trader on this site, who has completed many trades no problem. I think a UPS driver saw card and stole it, figuring if I sent it UPS it had to be good. Turns out it was Subban.

Ya, makes ya wonder if the average-at-best Canada Post might be the best way to go these days?

I tend to trust people on SCF as well, but I had someone with nearly 1,000 feedback on ebay steal $700 from me with a completely fraudulent listing, so I guess I am inherently skeptical all the time.

    .................................................. .....................................

As I said on here over 2 years ago, anything shipped to QUEBEC in a Bubble Envelop from the USA that has the word Hockey Card, Trading Card, or simply.....Card that has that written on the Customs Declaration stands a chance of being stolen at 6 possible locations.

    1. Canada Post In-Bond Mail on it's way to Customs Canada.

    2. Customs Canada/Douane In-Bond Warehouse prior to clearing.

    3. Customs Canada In-Bond sorting following Customs Clearance.

    4. Canada Post, post Customs Clearing being shipped to Canada Post depot.

    5. Canada Post depot destination for local sorting.

    6. Mail Delivery Person Canada Post

The same 6 areas for UPS or Fed-Ex or any other Internation Carrier.

There are too many hands that touch a Bubble Envelop with the word "Card" on it for expensive cards to NOT disappear.
