Superstars with low feedback?

I was just entering an Mario Andretti success into the TTMM and noticed that my success from 2 years ago with him was only a couple of entries below my new entry? This has happend a few times for me in the TTM Database. He is usually good for two signatures in about a two month turn around. Is there a reason that some legends like him only get a couple of requests logged while players like Bobby Doerr get pounded in our database? I doubt many members at all here have seen Doerr play baseball! He predates Mario by a long distance. Even HOF players like Raymond Berry has only had 11 requests logged this year and he usually adds extras? Ace Parker four requests in the database this year? I just wondered why some legends go with so little interest, but we blow up Mike Trout for instance that is young and hardly started! Thoughts?

I think it has to do with the sport- indycar racing is not too big in the United States or Canada! (where I'd say 95% of the TTM member are from!)

I guess I was one of the first to send Mario a number of items to sign for me. I was totally pumped when I got my things back signed and glad to see that he kept the items I offered him. He was one of the greatest race car drivers I ever saw and loved his style when I was a young kid.

I think part of the problem is that Mario may take 2-3 months to answer versus a Bobby Doerr or Dick Groat who normally send things back in 2 weeks (it's like instant gratification!). It also has to do with the popularity of the sport that our members enjoy.

I'm a little surprised about this as well. Although I never sent to Mr. Andretti, I had the chance to meet him in person a few years ago and get a few autographs from him. He was a great guy, very accommodating taking pics with anyone who wanted one and actually spoke with each person as well. I guess the indy car factor has something to do with it as previously mentioned. As fro the other guys that have been mentioned, I don't know.

i have always kinda wondered this myself. Lets use another example.. A.J Foyt.. Since i added that address over a year ago a whooping 1 entry & it was mine. lol A.J. is arguably the best ever to get behind the wheel of a race car yet no-one sends to him..

Really big believer that it has to do with the sport. With the exception of Richard Petty, the motorsports section really doesnt get alot of entry's. Auto racing doesnt have the following that the stick & ball sports have which is kind of a shame. With motorsports in my opinion you either like it or hate it. For instance, not many people that dont care for the sport arent going to sit down & watch cars go around a track & turn left. But with say a baseball game, the casual fan will sit & watch a few innings or alone see the high-lights on ESPN. ESPN before they started picking up NA$CAR races a few years back, devoted a solid 4 minutes tops to cover a race other then the daytona 500 & thats going to consist of pretty much what the winner did in the race. pit stops, ect.. ESPN has gotten alot better with there NA$CAR coverage sometimes devoting a full segment to that sport. If that trend continues you will see more involvment with folks TTMing them atleast i think. Indycar or NHRA are a completely different story. whens the last time sportscenter talked about indycars other then the indy 500. ESPN has exclusive rights to NHRA coverage & they get no air time on sportscenter.

address in the database has been there for over 2 years, with 4 entrys & 2 of them by me lol. Just another example of motorsports not quit being as popular as the stick & ballers.

And this upsets me so much. I update the database every time I get a return. It's helpful to others who may want to see what's coming in/looking for someone who may be worth sending to. Not everyone reads the boards and not everyone catches everyone's posts in their topics, so keeping the database up-to-date just helps everyone out.

Sometimes I get a week or two behind, but I always get mine in. Seems like it's the people I've never heard of or seen post on here are the ones updating their info lol
