Shanahan Issues First Suspensions
I really like the process used to explain the rationale behind the suspensions handed out to Letourneau-Leblond and Shelley. It's definitely a step up from the perceived Wheel of Justice under the previous administration.

Hats off to Shanahan for making the process more transparent as well as giving out some harsh penalties. Maybe it will finally make people wake up and realize that if you're a player you have to play smart.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Wow....
He has taken into account past behaviour from a previous season. Well done Shanny.
Based on that terrific explanation, and past behaviour, Matt Cooke is not gunna like the New Sheriff.

One can only hope that Mr. Cooke has truly reformed and won't put himself in that position.

Meh. Consider me not impressed, even a little bit.
When Shanny serves a lengthy suspension to star player for something dirty (Pronger, Perry, Ovechkin.... I'm looking at you guys) THEN I'll be impressed.

What a joke, this is coming from a guy that was one of the dirtiest players in the NHL, Hedman drove Crosby into the boards for his 2nd concussion and he didn't even get a penalty, I guess he had to prove something or not.

Ranfordfan is correct however. We shall see how the ELITE are assessed should the same thing happen to them, be it high-sticking, slashing or sucker punching to unmentionables.

Well, I'm impressed. Obviously there are more things that need to change, but let's not be mad at Shanny for not suspending an elite player before he has the chance.
He's making a statement right now that he is going to be completely up front with everyone, fans included, and that repeat offenders are going to pay a higher price, whether it was last season or this season.
So far I'm impressed, he just hasn't had the chance to do other things.
Give it time.
