    SGC or Beckett?

Should I get my 1949 Bowman Jackie Robinson rookie card graded by Beckett or SGC? Just whatever makes it more valuable I guess. It would be one of the lowest grades in both but if one company is more reliable for vintage grading then LMK!
Or if PSA is better then lmk that too please. Whichever one you vote on please tell me why too.

Thought PSA was the best resell prices. Why then select from those other two companies?

SGC is the standard for vintage. Just check the auction house sites, SGC is the most frequently used grading company by far, for the cards being sold.

PSA has graded 736 of this card, and SGC has graded 168. Not that that helps... just a little FYI. :)

    As do I.

    It seems to me that:

    1. PSA is the industry standard as they've been around longer. Consistency seems to be questioned from time to time, but my personal instances with them have been good. They are always accurate for me. Cost can be substantial unless you're a member. Shipping fees are stupid.

    2. BGS/BVG is the secondary industry standard. Prices comparable to PSA. Sellers will DEMAND a premium for higher grades though. Not sure why. I've seen a lot of stuff really high because of it being a low pop 9.5... when only two of the cards has even ever been graded by BGS.

    3. SGC is the red-headed step-child. Low cost grades. Questionable activities surround it's President/CEO. Great holders though. I don't have many dealings with them. I wouldn't grade with them just as a personal preference though.

PSA or BGS if you want value for resell. SGC if you want the best holder in the industry. I personally grade some of my lower end private collection with SGC, they just look cool and their low cost. But I also understand the resell on those cards will not be much. If I want to grade a card for resell I would go with BGS.

What is the questionable activities surrounding SGC President/CEO?
