Hey im looking to break a box of 1996-97 in search of jordan inserts, kobe RCs and Ray Allen RCs....I have about $200-$250 to spend.

Which would be the best box to break?

Also, how do I know if a Kobe rookie was printed in series 1 or series 2? its frusterating when u see hobby boxes for sale for series 1 or 2 but dont know when they printed kobe and allen rookies? Or am I just that stupid lol....
thanks for the help in advance

Best year in the basketball hobby IMO.

I'm not sure how much these boxes run, but I think the most fun would be: Ultra, SP, Flair, and Topps Chrome for the mix of RCs and inserts.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any Kobes or Ray Allen in Series 2 products. I think they put a lot of Iversons in Ser. 2. Topps, Fleer, Finest, UD, Metal, I think had Kobe and Allen in Ser. 1. Best way to confirm is Beckett probably, or I'm sure the interwebs have checklist available somewhere, once you know what product.

    Happy box break.

Topps Chrome boxes are $750-900. Flair boxes are selling around $400-500. Ultra and SP are pretty fun to bust. For the price range you are looking at i would get a box of EX 2000. You could also get a box of Bowman's Best and maybe a box of something else also. 96-97 Topps series 2 are good for the money. You can get a jumbo box for $50 and i usually average 3-4 Kobes per box. If it were me i would get (1) EX 2000 box for about $250, or (1) Bowman's Best and (1) Topps Series 2(very important to get series 2 and not 1). Have you thought about getting any 97-98 products, they don't have as good of rookies but it is the superior year as far as products go.

too the both of you thanks for all of the help...wouldnt be breaking any boxes if it werent for the information here....I like the bowmans product so i think your option 2 is the way I may go...I just need too find a good place to get them (i guess ebay?)

I actually have been thinking about 97-98 products...sort of in the same predicament...dont know where to start

All in all Ive changed my focus to breaking pre 1999 products (eventually want to find 92-93 products for shaq RCs)

It's a toss between Flair Showcase and EX-2000. Any of those have brilliant designs and a sexy rookie class to go along with it.

Yeah but you can get the Kobe Rc from that set for $5. Same with Ray Allen Rookie. The cards are probably going to be all stuck together as well.
