Research Poll
This is for a school project, so honest answers are appreciated!
This is for people who like a specific team- do you like the team because somebody in your family like(d) them or does the team have no family connections?

Grew up and am still in Detroit so I've always been affiliated with anything Michigan/Detroit. Don't know if that counts as family or not.

I was the first one in my family to even care about hockey...and I live 4 hours away from my favorite team. No family connections for me.

I've been a fan of the Edmonton Oilers for as long as I was old enougn to like hockey. Not only do I have zero relatives that are Oilers fans, but you could also count the number of days I've spent in Edmonton on one hand (none of which have been during hockey season). I'm from the opposite side of the country :)
Pretty easy to figure out though. I would have been 8 years old when the Oilers had won their 4th Stanley Cup in 5 years.... and 10 when they won their 5th (and final) one. That's when I got into hockey, and the Oilers were the best / most exciting team at the time.

Well, when I was young, I really like The Mighty Ducks, because of their logo (I was only 3). Then, Kipper was traded to Calgary, they started to win, he was utterly dominant in net and I fell in love with the Flames. So nothing to do with family connections.

I like the Vancouver Canucks because I live near Vancouver and I've always watched their games growing up, but I also like the Bruins and Lightning for other reasons.

No family connections for me! My favorite team is not a product of where I live either. I live in Oil country, but I am a Caniac due to my extreme fandom of Arturs Irbe during his finest years of his career. Irbe may have left the team years ago, but I still love the Canes to this day. I never miss a game when one is actually shown on TV.
