McGuire would have been fitting replacement for Cherry
After eating a fine dish of crow with extra mustard on national television the night before, CBC personality Don Cherry got the good news Sunday evening.
In a statement from their legal counsel, Stu Grimson, Chris Nilan and Jim Thomson indicated that they accepted Cherry’s limited (and clearly forced) apology and that they have no current intention of pressing further legal action against Cherry, Hockey Night in Canada or the CBC

Don Cherry was so off his rocker when he made those comments on HNIC the 1st week. If he wanted to apologize it should have been immediately like with Asham he apologized right away. Cherry wouldn't back done until he was forced to. Good for Grimson, Nilan, and Thompson to accept his apology though. I believe Grimson said he is now friends again with Cherry after his apology. I do think Don was more sincere than you might be giving him credit for though as he was absolutely off base with his statement therefore owned up that when your wrong you have to make it right. However his comments in the past on Swedes, Finns, Russians, and French Canadian players which were completely off base and borderline racist he never has apologized for.

For the record. Nobody wants Pierre Mcuire on Coach's Corner replacing anyone. Actually nobody wants Pierrr McGuire anywhere near the game, or Mike Milbury for that matter.

He's very knowledgeable, but extremely annoying. At the very least he should be banned from announcing in the World Juniors.
McGuire, that is

And well he shouldn't have to apologize to them (the swedes, fins, french quebecers, etc.). Seriously people need to grow some skin. By your thinking every time family guy is aired the writers should have to apologize to some poor down trodden group. Not going to happen, it's shtick, nobody should take it serious. It's for tv entertainment only. The beauty of television is it has both an off button and a channel change button. You don't want to watch or listen, don't, but don't deny someone else who understands that it is purely for entertainment and take it for that.
End Rant....

Your comparing Family Guy which is an animated sitcom to Coach's Corner which is a supposedly hockey talk segment that isn't trying to be funny. In fact Cherry was being dead serious. Completely different. Honestly I'd replace Don Cherry with Bob McKenzie rather than Pierre McGuire.

McKenzie has no showmanship, which Cherry has in abundance. It may be a hockey talk segment and not a comedy segment, but there still has to be entertainment value there.

Pierre McGuire is very knowledgeable, but not more so than anybody else that has come before.
As Wickabee says, He is sooooo annoying, annoying to the point that you shut the sound off not to hear his whiny voice.
As a kid I grew up hating the Habs, I smashed TV's, lost my temper, I had to put up with the greatest Hockey Homers in the World, Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin, did they get under my craw??, yes, .....were they knowledgeable, very,...... were they annoying?. No they were not annoying, that is the big difference between those others in the know and Pierre McGuire.
Pierre McGuire could give a Duck's rear-end a headache.
