When attempting to make a sale, why does the potenial buyer saying "give me your best offer" actualy mean " I am a cheapskate slash your prices %50 for me"?

If someone wants 50% off, just mark up your prices, so your 50% off is what you really want.

Sometimes sellers will give a big discount right off the bat and that is what the buyers are hoping for. If someone asks for your best price never give them your real best price. Ask what they will give you for it. Try to get them to commit to a number and work up from there. They know you will probably come down off your highest price and you know they will probably go up from their lowest offer. If you give two prices before they make one offer they are ahead in the negotiations.

for a lesson on haggling watch this.
