I say false as well. Brodeur's success is a product of his defense and team system (1-3-1 anyone?) To call him Rob Brown is too much of a slight, but calling him Jarri Kurri is close. (Kurri being a product of Gretzky's talent)

I don't intend to slam either player but both players talents were multiplied by the surrounding support

    .................................................. ........

All Hab Fans hate Brodeur, simply because he embarrasses Roy at the position.

False. While his overall stats are impressive and he has won a few cups, I would not quite call him a big game goalie like some of the other greats. But he is up there in terms of the greats, he would just be more like Lemieux in terms of the Lemieux Vs. Gretzky debate

    I will say true.

    Now to go off topic.
I believe that Backstrom and Rinne are like Gretzkys of the goalies without the support cast.

Just think if Backstrom or Rinne have the chance to have a team in front of them like Brodeur has had. With the numbers they have currently and if they had a team that could help steal some ditry wins they could look as good as Broduer.

I'd like to thank centrehice for the morning LOL - regular season shutouts are not how Habs fans measure a goalie's success level. At all.

Brodeur is a mighty good goalie, one of the best ever. He may be tarnishing himself by hanging on too long (long way to go until he reaches Favre territory) as he hasn't actually won a playoffs series since 2007, but nothing can take away the 3 Cups, wins record, and other accomplishments. Top five all-time, absolutely. But he is not the game-changer/other-worldly player that Gretzky was.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
