    Titanium to Return?

Panini appears to be bringing back another "legacy brand" from the good old days: Titanium.

Karvin Cheung, who joined Panini last year after being the main man at Upper Deck for many years, Tweeted this just a few minutes ago in response to an earlier post about some exciting news... "How does Elite and Titanium sound?"

Elite had already been confirmed but the news of Titanium is pretty big.

I'm still trying to track down a Cammalleri Titanium Hobby RC /99 from 02-03.

    Hopefully more to come!

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Like everything else, it depends on what the content and the price point will be. Let's not forget that a lot of people seemed to be excited about Luxury Suite last year but it quickly became one of the worst products of the year in terms of ROI.

Be nice to see someone create a whole new product line instead of drudging up all the old brands.

I loved titanium !! As a 14/15 year old back in 03-04, Titanium was an affordable product and a guaranteed GU in every pack.I still remember pulling /199s of Gleason+ Kesler and thought those were true RCS back in the day... The hobby can be so confusing sometimes.

Ps did anyone else get excited about "game-dated" cards from 97-98 UD ? I remember at such a young age I though I had hit the jackpot, only to be told at my LCS the real game dated cards were 3x as thick with shiny foil.

Ugh. Why is Panini "bringing back" all these defunct brands? It's not necessary. Do they even have a product development team at Panini? The vast majority of the brands are just rehash. They did good with Score, I'll give them that, but the rest of the sets they have brought back are being butchered.

One of the major release that Panini was granted a license in the first place was because it had ownership of several recognizable name brands. Straight from the NHLPA Press Release:

"The Players have partnered with Panini in order to provide collectors with classic brands and fresh collecting options across all retail price points," said Adam Larry, the NHLPA’s Director of Licensing. "The partnership will further expand trading cards beyond its traditional North American appeal to other hockey-loving countries, and will also provide young fans with an exciting new way to follow their hockey heroes."

Maybe the PA really liked collecting these cards when they were kids, who knows, but the "heritage brands" were a huge selling point when they got the license.

I hope they do a better job with Titanium than they have with Crown Royale.

Titanium was an awesome set, and to be honest they will get more hobby love bringing back the old products!
