    Hobby box VS Blaster Boxes

I noticed that Upper Deck S1 Hobby boxes are roughly $67 a box, and comes with 24 packs each. The Blaster boxes are roughly $20 and comes with 12 packs. What's the benefit to buying a hobby box at that price when I can buy 3 blaster boxes for the same price, and an extra 12 packs? Am I missing something?

Odds for a lot of things are longer in Blaster boxes as well as a lot of things (exclusives) are hobby only.

    Inserts, inserts, inserts...

Buying three blasters will get you a good way towards completing the base set, but you will fall woefully short of Young Guns and inserts.

You'll get a few Young Guns and some inserts, but you will not see an Exclusive or HG. Odds are against getting a jersey card, too.

As someone who has bought many blasters (no hobby shops in my area) I can tell you that 3 blasters vs. 1 hobby box (at the same price) is a no-brainer. Unless you are a set builder, go for the hobby box.

Also - Keep an eye on the Pack / Box Breaks page. You can see what people are pulling from various boxes. that would give you an idea of how Blasters stack up against Hobby boxes.

    Good luck, whichever you choose.

Should get the same amount of Young guns - 2 per blaster so 6 in total compared to 6 out of a hobby box.

UD blasters are different from Panini blasters. Panini blaster seem to keep the odds up were UD like to make the odds super long.

amount of YGs will remain the same -- 2 per blaster x 3 blasters = 6 YGs, same as a hobby box.

main difference is blasters have retail packs. aside from longer odds, retail packs are also missing inserts like the Exclusives /100 and /10 and some other stuff.

Hobby gives 6 young guns, 2 Game used cards, Exclusives /10 /100 (exclusives fall 1 per every other box on average)

Blasters give 2 young guns, Game used cards are extremely rare, and no chance for exclusives.

With a hobby box you're almost guaranteed your 6 YGs
With a blaster, you're likely to hit 2 per box, but stand a chance of hitting 3, 1 or none.
    No High Gloss or Exclusives.
As far as the jerseys are concerned, I open a lot of retail/blasters and I've hit 2 in 2 years.

One thing to remember about buying the Hobby box is that most times the return (money wise) is less then what you paid for the box. Sure it might seem like you pulled even when ya read the prices on a guide book, but in reality , most time then now , you get burned. Its like buying a lottery ticket.

I just busted an 08/09 UD hobby box. Got my 6 no name younguns, 2 crappy GU. and one no name exclusive. But it was ok, cause I did have the chance to get that Stamkos YG... Oh and also I bought the box on sale for about $30.. Love clearence deals!
