I need some ebay advice.
Ok any input is greatly appreciated. I currently sell on ebay full time and have 100% feedback.
Most of the time I sell stuff as is involving electronics, because I don't know weather it works or not, due to not being able to properly test the item. I clarify this in every auction listed. I also don't have returns allowed on as is items either. Some guy bought something from me almost 4 months a go and it worked for him in that amount of time. He sent me an email asking for a refund of the item because it recently failed. Note also he never left me feedback in the first place. My question is do you think it's absurd that the guy is asking for his money back 4 months later? Considering my policy and how the guy bought it knowing that their could be a downside to the product, I don't think it's fair what he's asking.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Ebay is 45 day return policy, as Paypal is as well, so I think you don't have to give a refund.

I wouldn't give a refund especially if your listing states that the device is untested and you don't offer returns. That's basically an AS IS auction. In four months you have no clue what this guy has done to this device.
Don't worry about your 100% feedback either. If you are a good seller, one neg won't effect you at all. The problem comes if it becomes a trend.
Also, why don't you test the item? I guess if you are moving hundreds of electronic devices, but I'd want to know if they worked. Seems like the time and effort to test them would increase your sales. If I see a item that is untested and the seller states that he doesn't know if it works or not, I assume it doesn't work. Most items don;t take too long to test and I'd think the potential in much higher ending prices would make it worth it. I sell very few electronics but always test mine. That also lets you know for sure if someone gets a working item from you and tries to return a broken one that they had before buying yours.

Also buying electronics used on ebay dont exactly come with warranties or guarantees. I think any buyer with half a brain would know this.

No after 4 months of him having the item you don't have to refund the money since you state the item may not work properly to begin with.

@Star_Cards I test whatever items I can, but I sell a lot of specialty electronics. Stuff like computer parts, amplifiers, medical equipment and various other things/gadgets that I sell sometimes I can't test. They require special batteries, power adapters, or I will honestly have no idea how to use the item, so I just describe the item the best I can and sell it as is so that its solely the person's decision. I also never click the used option on these auctions, I click the (for parts or for broken option).
Thanks for all your input everyone, just wanted to see what you people might do in this kind situation.

1) You are beyond the 45 day refund limit imposed by Paypal. You are fine.
2) Saying "no returns" or "As Is" does not protect you. eBay and Paypal will still rule in favor of the buyer.
I had "As Is" in an auction a while back, the buyer tried to renig, PayPal ruled in their favor if they returned the item. They never did so I won but if they had I would have had to issue a refund. Still tied my account up for nearly a month too.

understood. I'm glad to see that a seller describes his stuff correctly. If you sold the item as "for parts" I doubt he'd have many reason to legitimately receive a refund.

4 months later is crazy. even 4 weeks is way too long. you're not Wal-Mart, you shouldn't have to honor warranty service on used merchandise that the buyer has been happily using for the past 4 months.
