    I've never heard of that

Couture got a Honda Accord Crosstour for his troubles. The NHL and NHL Player's Association also donated $10,000 each to a charity of his choice.

It just says charity there. When he was standing last, they said $10,000 from each the NHL and NHLPA to go to any grassroots hockey organization of his choosing.

I'dlike the fans and league to have nothing to do with the players being nominated. I would rather have 2 captains pick from the 726 registered members of the NHLPA for the all star game. Everyone is eligible and they are allowed to pick who ever they want.

They would have to make sure there is emphasis on winning for one team ($1M donation to charity or something from the winning team? etc) but it would make it a true wild card

I think that is a true draft style and would be a lot more fun to watch. With the only stipulation being that they could only pick one or two from their own team. That would be awesome to watch!!
