Citi Field Petition: Mets Fans please read!

I want to try and get Citi Field to open early, so we can get more opportunities for autographs and baseballs. Most stadiums open 2 and a half hours before the game, while Citi Field opens only 2.

I'm hoping that if I can get enough people who sign on to the idea, I can write them a letter/email, show all of the fans who agree, and maybe even get something done.

    It's worth a try.

Is a half an hour really that big of a difference?

phillies open their gates at 5:30 for a 7:00 game if im not mistaken. They open the outfield gates an hour earlier but dont let you down onto the field.

I think this is becoming a more widespread practice to "protect" the athletes from us

Wow I've notice that sometimes they do that at phillips areana for hawks games, some games they dont. I'm not sure about the mets or baseball in general but I think that higher ups from certian teams do not like for their players to be asked for autographs and they call the teams that they are on the road playing ahead of time and make them aware of such. I say if this keeps up we the fans and autographs seekers need to "protect" our wallets from these greedy sports teams.

I am pretty sure that is how it is for the Indians now, too. It used to be 2 hours and 30 minutes prior the whole stadium was open, but not anymore.

Comerica park opens up 2 hours before the game (and you can get in 30 minutes earlier if you are a season ticket holder), but if you are a season ticket holder and get in earlier, they won't let you past the outfield until 2 hours before the game starts.

Citizens Bank Park was heaven on Earth when I was there. It does open at 4:30 which is nice, because it gave me an extra hour to try for BP balls, while I could try for autographs a half hour before Citi Field, which allowed me to get some decent guys.

I agree on the protecting the athletes part.

    You'd be surprised.

There are not going to open the gates up 30 mins earlier so we can get autographs. Most of the players do not want to be bothered with us anyway.
It may be easier this year at CitiField anyway. Johan and Wright will probably be the toughest. Other than that. How many marquee players are on the Mets. I've gotten Wright and Bay a couple of times already. You just have to get them at the right time.
Sorry, i just don't think its worth the effort. Good Luck

This is the truest statement of all, but obviously I'm not going to say "so we can get more autograph". I'm going to say something like "for the fans entertainment".

    It should be easy.
