Twinsfest '12
Friday: Got there as soon as I could after school today, hopped in line with Fixxxer and his wife. Always great to see those two.
Started off at Corner 1 for Benson/Revere/Diamond/ Waldrop. Diamond no-showed.
Revere signed an 11x14 of "The Catch" for me. Waldrop was making some pretty funny comments: "Just be honest Ben, you closed your eyes, threw your glove up and got lucky on that play". Waldrop signed a Target Field 4x6 and Benson an 8x10.
Headed over to the free prospects, got a few on cards, all on my program like I do every year, and a few on the TF 4x6.
Next was Duensing/Doumit/Plouffe/Tosoni. Tosoni didn't show. Got Plouffe on an 8x10 of his walkoff in silver sharpie and it looked great. Handed the same silver sharpie to Doumit to sign an 8x10 and it came out like absolute crap. Sigh, should have gone with the paint pen Fixxxer gave me.
Headed up to the Willingham/Marquis line. As I was waiting, one of the guys I had struck up a conversation with in the line for Doumit wandered by and told me that Tosoni had shown up. I took a chance and went back down to the table. The handlers were actually very nice, and let me hop in and get Tosoni. Rene signed two 8x10s for me. One of his walkoff, one already signed by Duensing.
Grabbed Willingham on a SS OMLB and Marquis on an 8x10. Big thanks to Fixxxer for loaning me an OMLB, since the ones I was supposed to get in a trade didn't show. Stopped by the freebies to get Caleb Thielbar, who grew up a few minutes from me and went to the same college as me. We talked a bit, and he told me he works out in my hometown and to stop by if I want to play some catch. How neat is that? Might take him up on that this week.
Fixxxer also got my Shannon Stewart 11x14 signed for me. Have I mentioned that he's a great guy?
Fergie Jenkins tricked me pretty good. Was looking at his booth, and saw some neat signed First Day catchets for $10. Figured that was a good price for a HOFer. I asked his handler if it was $10 for the catchet and the signature, and he told me it was. However, when I laid it down infront of Fergie he went "I'm not signing this for just $10." He argued with his handler saying "This is a Hall of Fame signature! I'm not giving it for ten!" and "That is a limited, first-edition collectible. It's worth ten unsigned". I was just amazed at how rude and arrogant Fergie was being, and was just about to walk away when he burst out laughing and told me he was joking. Signed it and added his HOF inscription.
Most importantly, Fixxxer and I got our photo taken with The Drew, Himself, Drew Butera.
Big thanks to Fixxxer for helping me over and over again. Was great to see all the board members! Tomorrow for Jacque/Shannon/Radke.
Sorry for the terrible pictures.
Willingham SS OMLB, Zumaya SS OMLB Steiner (in from a trade today)

11x14s

Saturday: Went up just to get Jacque/Shannon/Radke..one of my good buddies has been chasing Jacque's signature for 7 years on a jersey he got when he was much younger. Highlight of the day was seeing him meet his favorite player, finally.

Radke only had a black pen at his table when I went through. Didn't even notice until he handed the ball back to me.
Mudcat was fantastic. Very friendly and was very happy to inscribe "What a wonderful world". If you haven't heard him sing, Youtube it.

And picked up this bad boy

If you're on Twitter..follow The Drew Butera Fan Club. We'll be giving away free autographs of The Drew in the near future!

I don't have much expertise with Target Field. Players are occasionally accessible on the concourse entering the stadium before games, and I've had success at the visitor's dugout.
