I personally find it very difficult to trade higher-end cards because in that range everyone has such specific wants that it's difficult to find the perfect match. Instead, it's just easier to sell a card to Collector A so that you can buy what you need from Collector B.

Ok man, people can do whatever they choose with their cards. The Hockey card business is a business for a lot of high end dealers. With your looking for the card that you need and want, then you better be willing to pay whatever he/she wants for it. If they want to do trade than thats great to.

Not saying you aren't, but usually when dragging up an older thread it's to add something constructive to the discussion. You basically just echoed all the other posts. I didn't understand why is all.

If boxes were under $20.00 per box you would see a ton more of trading. But boxes are not within the realm of proper spending limits, they are far exceeded.

People that are dumping upwards of $85.00 every time they buy a box probably want to realize even a small return in cash to offset the large expenditure.

It's more about being astute with money than operating it as a business per se.

If Trading was important in this Business/ Hobby. Call Panini and offer to trade them. LOL even offer to trade them in there favor and see where that goes. Call topps and ask them to consider a trade. Here is a great idea call UPPER DECK and offer to trade my redemptions for what is owed and see if they can come through. I have never made a trade where value was not the issue. Not saying it cant happen but I never saw BIGFOOT either.

For me, I just started a PC in my 10th year of collecting, and often Cody Hodgson cards are very expensive and go on ebay right away because people can get money for them. I also LOVE to rip wax. Absolutely love it. That's why I never started a PC because it is so costly to rip wax. I'd rather rip wax than buy cards for my PC because when you pull something insane it is the best feeling in the world.

As a breaker, cash is 100000000x more important than cards to get more boxes.
As a collector, cash is 100000000x more useful in getting cards for your collection.

In the long run, who cares? As long as you are enjoying the hobby, it's all good, even if that means trying to flip cards for profit.

I have no problem with selling on sites like this and I don't think the OP does either. The issue here seems to be people using this site as a flea market ONLY. I can't tell you how many times I've had the same thing happen. Send out a few PMs requesting trades and get nothing but replies of, "Card is for sale only".

Now, the seller is completely within their rights, but this is a hobby forum, not a business forum. I've had many PMs regarding cards I really rather would sell, but I still take a look through the bucket or list or tell them what I collect because hey, who knows. If there's nothing I want, I don't trade, but I don't take the option off the table before an offer has even been made.

That's the thing that is annoying. I get it if I don't have any cards you want, but if you're here to sell only and absolutely refuse to trade under any circumstances, what are you doing here? Go to Ebay and leave the hobby to the hobbyists..
