See then, the reasons why WE collect vary. I told you why I collect. I understand about the anger, most of the time I feel helpless in the world, doing just enough to get by. Fer pete's sake, I'm at work right now typing this..........
My collection tho, I'm in charge of that.

Of course this transfer is there. And this transfer come from another place, too. Time make us realise these things.
But I also greatly collect because I so love shiny things.

So ok, collecting is putting the energy put in a bad habbit to exist within a considered good one.
That bad habbit came from the sudden loneliness of a separation. It was the reaction, the way to adapt.
