There is only 1 Rookie Of the Year!!!
i am starting to get annoyed with people saying gabriel landeskog should/will/might be rookie of the year.... I like him a lot as a player, but THE NUGE is the only rookie of the year, he missed like how many games due to injury and is like 2 points back from Landeskog... Lets be for Real!!!!!!
anyone agree/disagree?

I agree RNH is still in contention, but scoring alone does not a Calder winner make (in theory).
Landeskog is the more complete player right now.

we are being for real, he is a candidate but likely not going to win it. His being hurt and not playing for his team for a period of time definitely hurts his chances. Also it seems like your only argument FOR him is his scoring. Even with his great scoring he is still a minus. Landeskog is leading all rookies in scoring as well as leading his team by a wide margin with a +20. Only one other player on the Aves has a +/- better than 9. Adam Henrique has 46 points, he's 3rd on his team with a +7, has scored some on the power play and leads the NHL in short-handed points. These guys can score but they also are very defensively responsible for their teams and put them up over Nugent-Hopkins.
This isn't saying that he won't end up the top rookie of his class but he just didn't have the best rookie campaign

Exactly right here. Landeskog looks like a 29 year old veteran. Colorado is -7 as far as goals for/against go. Edmonton is -18. Being a +20 on a team that is -7 as far as goal differential goes is amazing. The problem with Landeskog and what's ultimately not making him a sure thing is two things:
A) It goes to scoring a lot of the time
B) He has gone under the radar and has limited press about him
How many times do you hear Landeskog on highlights or from analysts as opposed to the Nuge? Landeskog has 3 more GWG, 2 more tying goals and 2 more goals when his team is up by 1. He scores at crucial moments. Landeskog is also a much better player on the road, and a better overall player.
Adam Henrique also deserves more praise than what he gets, but he's a good 3rd place finisher. The NHL Awards will be interesting this year, as players like Landeskog are having insane campaigns and are the top of their class but may not get the award deserving their accomplishments.

thanks for the good points guys, I just think that if the nuge was on a winning team and had a full season, that he would be looking pretty elite right now! 53 games played and 45 points.... landeskog 75 games played and 47 points.. i realize that points dont mean everything... but i also believe its pretty hard to deny that that is his award!!!

Totally disagree. Henrique comes out of nowhere, on a team that scores few goals or points and puts on this kind of display in front of RNH and Landeskog whom are considered franchise players of the future.
Absolutely I disagree.

Henrique is #3, plain and simple.

Still think Larrsson should get some consideration too :)
RNH is going to be one of the three finalists, so is Landeskog. Both are deserving. No idea who will win..... and the last 10 games will have a lot to do with it.

I don't even think a winning team is necessary.
If RNH had not missed 20 games to injury he would have run away with this award and this discussion would not be taking place anywhere.
Let me put this in perspective for you:
Sidney Crosby leads the NHL in points-per-game. Is he going to be considered for the Heart?
I don't discount Adam Henrique from this conversation. He may very well win it. 4 short handers and another 3 shortie assists is just absurd, and he's right with Landeskog in the scoring chase.
But to declare RNH anything more than a distant third right now is a bit of a joke. 45 points in 53 games is amazing for a rookie, but that also includes 19 power play assists.
If you want to include a defenseman for argument's sake that's fine - how you pick Larsson over Jake Gardiner is beyond me though.
